This part saved us heat during a cold spell...and $7-8K.
My furnace failed after about 20 years in middle of a freezing cold spell. It was very sporadic to ignite. Local heating guy said parts weren't available and couldn't work on it. Quoted $7-8K for new system. I researched part number and found it on Supply House. Very good data base for parts. I ordered it on Wednesday afternoon and received it Friday evening. Installed in furnace (15 min)....works perfectly. Furnace fires every time! I intend to order additional parts and install as upgrades this summer....keep that furnace going.

If it is breakable beware
An igniter arrived broken twice. On the first call I explained how the packaging was not properly done, and requested the replacement be packaged correctly. I was assured that would happen. The second shipment was packaged exactly the same and was also broken. I received a prompt refund and purchased locally.

Q: Any hints on how to remove the ignitor screws without breaking them? I've done several replacements and no matter how long I soak the screws with solvent they always break. Is there a 'kit' to use when this happens?

I've replaced this part 4 or 5 times in the past and have never had the problem of which you speak. Maybe spraying the bolts a couple times a year with something like "WD-40" would help. Certainly won't hurt. Glenn

First off use anti-seize on the screws when you replace them. Also the screws should be stainless. I noticed a replacement Robert Shaw ignitor is thinner @ the mounting holes so the stock screws protrude into the burn chamber. The best penetrant to loosen bolts I have found is "old school" GM (automotive) heat riser lube.

Q: The number on my igniter is 511-330-145. Will this 511-330-148 work? It looks the same in the picture and has the same type of electrical connector.

This is what I found after a few searches online, If you plan on using this in a Weil McLain GV boiler it will work. Sent using OWA for iPad
