When I bought my home in December of 1999, it had a Honeywell programmable thermostat. I have no idea when it was installed but the house was 14 years old when I bought it. In October of 2009, I had a hip replaced and came home to recuperate. The weather is always "iffy" in Michigan in the fall so when I realized my old thermostat was no longer programmable - it was stuck on the summer settings - I went looking, on line, for a replacement. (No driving around since my hip was still healing.) I researched this Honeywell replacement, found it cheapest on PexSupply so I ordered it[...] and had a friend volunteer to install it for me. The install took about 10 minutes and it has been running wonderfully ever since. It is lighted (the old one wasn't) and the only thing that had to be done after installation and programming was a bit of painting since the new one is more compact and slimmer than the 20 year old one. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. It does everything I need it to do and does it very reliably.

Disappointed in accuracy

Easy to install and program but accuracy is a disappointment... Tempature that unit shows is at least three degrees off than actual temperature.

Comments about Pro Programmable, 1H/1C, Standard Display Thermostat:

I used this programmable thermostat together with the White Rodgers heat relay to install a programmable thermostat in place of a line voltage thermostat for 240 volt heat.the relay can be installed anywhere in the circuit and then controlled by programmable thermostat at any other location connected only by 2 wire thermostat wire. Very simple and very effective

Comments about Pro Programmable, 1H/1C, Standard Display Thermostat:

I had installed the wrong type of programable thermostat over the winter purchased at a big box store. Found out this summer it was not compatible with my air conditioner. After the A/C service man figured that out, he said he could install this thermostat (he had one in his truck) or I could buy it myself elsewhere and install it. He showed me the box so I would order the correct one(nice guy!) His cost was 250. I found it on Supplyhouse and paid around 30. Installed in minutes. Works great! Love it!

    Q:

is it possible to program the thermostat to heat and cool at the same time, or is there something wrong with the unit itself or the installation itself. thanks julie

      A:

Not sure why anyone would want to cool and heat at the same time. However, the answer is no. You cannot heat and cool at the same time. the sliding the button at the bottom of the unit states either "off" or "heat" or "cool". Not both.

Can this thermostat be used for a radiant heat system?

      A:

We couldn't get three of them to work with our radiant floors - kept
cycling - I think it's sensor detects the radiant energy and switches it
off. Also it has a very small (1/2 degree) sensitivity and with radiant
floors you need to have at least a degree or 2 of float before the system
comes back on. We switched to the Robert Shaw thermostats and they worked
      great with our system.

    Q:

What does "recovery" mean when the thermostat is on? I programmed the thermostat to turn off and on at a certain time at a certain temprature, but now it does not obey. It turns on earlier with a "recovery" indicator on.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Adaptive Intelligent Recovery eliminates guesswork when setting your schedule.
It allows the thermostat to “learn” how long your furnace and air conditioner take
to reach the temperature you want.

First, set the system switch to cool. Make sure that the temperature is set lower than the indoor temperature. Wait 5 minutes for the system to respond.

    Asked on 7/30/2012 by Tomi

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can, but you would also need a control that is able to adapt to low-voltage thermostats and 4-wire actuators in order to link the thermostats to the actuators. We'd recommend a Taco zone valve control.
