This Aluminum Zinc anode rod is AMAZING! We bought a tiny home that had 6 years of sulfur water through its plumbing system. The 28 gallon AO Smith water heater was giving us some of the nastiest smelling fart water you can imagine. We turned off and depressurized the water heater. We needed about 3 feet clearance above our water heater to get the old rod out (27mm deep socket and a long pull handle). We poured 1 pint of Hydrogen Peroxide in the anode hole and replaced with this new Aluminum Zinc (zinc is the KEY here) anode rod. We evacuated the air from the WH, turned it back on and let it sit overnight. The odor diminished 90 percent at first try and it is completely gone after about 100 gallons of usage. My expectations were low, but this did the trick 100 percent!

Solved the rotten egg smell in our AO smith 38 gallon shorty water heater. Original anodes nothing worked. In areas that have some organic matter in your water (not harmful) turn up the temp Will sometimes stop it not us but aluminum zinc alloy anodes did overnight drain and replace and good to go!!

Ever since we put in a water softener to take care of the iron smell and taste, we eliminated the iron problem but created another problem. On a plumbing forum, I read that a water softener will create a rotten egg smell with a magnesium anode rod . I didn't hesitate to go to Supply House for the exact aluminum anode rod for my hot water tank , after flushing out the heater , the smell was gone . Simple fix and Supply House had exactly what I needed, quick shipping and a great price.

A few years ago (2020): Three weeks after replacing an old water heater, our water began to smell. After researching and calling the manufacturer, I bought a KA-90 anode rod and the smell disappeared. Supply House had the best price and it arrived within three days. This year (2022): We replaced another old water heater in our cottage with a "lowboy" in the crawlspace and my first thought was to preemptively install a KA-90 rod to avoid the water smelling bad again. This shorter rod fit the bill and Supply House was, again, the best price and delivered in two days this time around.

Used these in a low boy electric water heater. Hot water smelled like rotten eggs. Not anymore! Add a qt of hydrogen peroxide then install these. Smell is gone.
