Description
–
The Product Preservers Anti-Scale System protects your tankless water heater from damage due to scale formation. This system does not add chemicals to the water or require electricity. As water flows through the filter, hard water minerals form inactive scale crystals which flow through the water heater without sticking to the heat exchanger.
The system virtually maintenance free as the filter only needs to be changed every two years. Replacing the filter is easier, faster, and needs to be less frequently than using isolation valves to flush a water heater with a cleaning solution to remove scale buildup.

Installation with caution.
Inlet and outlet plastic adapters (came with filter) are useless (will leak). Even a 1" to 3/4 brass adapter (reducer) will not work. Will need 1" nipple (longer thread than reducer), then use 3/4" reducer. It was a pain to hook everything up. Will see how the filter will work out. Still plan to flush every 2 years when replacing filter.

I wouln't buy this again
A.O. Smith or Supply House doesn't service this anti-scale system. An o-ring that should be replaced isn't available; there are no part numbers. Also, two plastic inlet/outlet adapters on the head unit will start to leak; again, there are no replacement parts or part numbers from either A.O. Smith or Supply House.

Replaced and Bust twice in two years
this will prevent scale, but count on buying again year after year. in retrospect, probably simpler and cheaper to just flush the tankless with vinegar on a yearly basis, rather than deal with flooding and no hot water.

Their should be more Company,s like Supply House.

I installed this for my new Takagi tankless hot water heater. We use a water distiller for our drinking water and the deposits left in the distiller appear to be reduced by more than half. So I am quite pleased with this system.

Time will tell if Product Preservers Anti-Scale filter will be effective in protecting my expensive new Polaris water heater that heats our water and infloor radiant heat for our entire house from lime scale. Products sales info was quite impressive.

Verified Reply- Supplyhouse.com TeamIt depends on the hardness of the water where you live. For harder water you would replace more often or maybe even use multiple units. Typically it should be changed every 6-12 months depending on usage and hardness of water.
