–
The Amtrol Mixing Valve is constructed with a temperature adjusting handle for quick and easy alteration of mixed water temperature. A turn of the handle adjusts the temperature over a range from about 110F to 170F. A Position that prevents scaling water from arriving at the outlet fixture is most desirable - approximately 120F is satisfactory for most hot water uses other than dish washing and laundry machines.

Perfect fit
I needed my heater certified as part of my home sale and the mixing valve was leaking. Rather then swearing in what I could find at the local supply house I was able to buy the same type here and replace just the insert. Works perfect and the only reason the old one leaked was hard water caused the screw to funk up and eventually the seal.

Use check valve on each supply
I have thought that my cold water ran warmer than it should for a while. Today while running a cold water hose for an hour with nothing else being used I noticed my propane water heater was running non-stop. This mixing valve is allowing hot water to escape to the cold water pipes. I am ordering check valves now to try and fix this. I wonder how much wasted hot water this has cost me in the last two years.

1/2" sweat mixing valve 420
Purchased this mixing valve to repair the exact same existing valve on the domestic hot water coil of a oil furnace. I unscrewed the new mixing valve from its fitting, unscrewed the broken mixing valve from its soldered in fitting and screwed in the new mixing valve. Problem solved without having to use a soldering torch. The valve is easy to adjust to obtain the preferred temperature of hot water at the faucet without scalding.

Q: Is there a schematic for how the AMTROL 420 mixing valve is assembled? I broke the setting/adjustment screw off at the center stem because it was corroded solid from well water deposits/scale. I am interested in buying a repair/ rebuild kit rather then having to UN-solder and replace the entire valve. Will the rebuild kit come with a new center screw/stem?
