Description

Kickspace heaters are the space-saving alternative to hot water baseboard. Designed to fit inconspicuously under a cabinet, in the floor, on or in the wall, kickspace heaters are ideal for hard to heat areas such as foyers, kitchens, and bathrooms.

Hot water from the home's boiler is circulated through the kickspace unit and the fan gently blows heated air into the room. The homeowner simply selects the fan speed, then the unit turns on and off automatically according to heating demand.

Twin-Flo III + kickspace heaters are your ideal solution wherever space is limited:
  • Under Cabinets
  • In Kitchens, Baths, and Foyers
  • Under Stair Risers and Windows

We love these kickspace heaters

I installed a K120 in the garage, that replaced an older hydronic wall heater. This unit performs flawlessly, and runs automatically when there is water flow out on that zone. I only turn on that zone when I want to work out in the garage. I am quite pleased with the ease of installation, and the unit puts out a lot of heat, even on low setting. I have 4 other smaller units running on our kitchen zone, and they all run beautifully, when the zones are calling for heat. I definately am a fan of kickspace heaters.

Noisy even on low, no better with new blower

I recently installed 4 BM kickspace heaters as part of a major remodel. 3 of the heaters were installed in BM floor cabinets, as we wanted to clean up the look of the space by removing all visible baseboard heating. The setup consists of one K42, two k84s, and one K120, with one of the K84s mounted as usual in a cabinet kickspace, and the other 3 mounted in floor cabinets. The K42 and K84's work beautifully, and are near silent on low speed. The K120, however, is another story. Starting immediately the first time the system was fired up, the K120 exhibited a low-frequency resonant vibration hum that transmitted through the floor cabinet and into the framing members. This can be heard throughout the entire space (~750 sq. ft.), and can actually be felt through the floor and any nearby furniture. On top of this, there are a couple different higher pitched harmonic fan noise frequencies that are unacceptably bothersome. These noises persisted even after inspection of the mounting within the cabinet, and attempts to dampen via additional isolation. This is just on low, mind you. On high this thing sounds like a steam locomotive, complete with 3-tone whistle. Assuming I had received a unit with a faulty motor/blower, I contacted Supply House, and their consistently excellent customer service agreed right away to ship me a replacement K120 blower assembly if I removed and returned the original assembly, letting me keep the rest of the already plumbed and wired heater in place. Well, at this point the old one has been shipped back and the new one installed, and to my dismay the new unit presents the EXACT same noise issues as the one originally installed.

Good unit

After getting a friend to solder on a couple right-angle fittings, I was able to install the heater myself. It does a great job and is pretty quiet in the slower fan mode. It is a replacement for an identical unit that worked well for 26 years.

My opinion

I just finished installing 2 of the K-120 Twin Flow 3 kick space heaters. So far so good, they are blowing a lot of heat. Fan on high setting could potentially be a little loud. I will no better by the weekend, because I will be using it. My negative is, the manufacture knows that the installation for these heaters is very close quarters. When you go to hook up the electric in the panel of the heater, the knockouts in the metal case surrounding it is very soft metal and hard to get them out. There must be a better way so it's easy to get them out in such close quarters like a cabinet.

Packaging

I like the product but the packaging was sub par. They were shopped in the manufacture box not reboxed and protected by supply house. It was very disappointing

This is a solid performer

I have 4 of these kick-space heaters in a large kitchen remodel, and they all work great on the zone they are attached to. Quiet when on low, and they push a lot of heat when on high setting. I have purchased another for my garage, and look forward to great operation in the future with that device.

I would by this K120 kick heater again

I did BTU calculations for a game room with cathedral ceilings 20'L x 22'W x15'H. Based on a variety of calculators the room should have 25 thousand or so BTU for heating. Its a renovation and I wanted radiant floor heating (Schluter Electric) so this would be supplemental heat under the bar I'm installing as I wanted to keep the hadronic heat zone without the baseboard heat. This kick heater says it puts out 13000 BTU max and it heats the room all by itself just fine, even on the few 30 degree days we have had so far in New England. It's pretty quiet on the low setting, but loud on the high setting as per a lot of the reviews. If it was part of the baseboard loop as an additional kick I would leave it on low and it would be fine. This being all by itself as the zone, high is fine right now and it does the job, when the radiant floor heat is in it will keep the room warm when no one is using it and when we use the room for company and the radiant floor heat I would probably turn it down low or off so we don't have to hear it. Overall good value and it works great

We recommend that you use the K42 heater for the kick space.

Q: What would the square footage be for each of the three models?

The square footage is based on heat loss in the room/space. At 180 degree water temperature, the K42 will give you 4,200 BTUs, the K84 will give you 8,400 BTUs, and the K120 will give you 12,000 BTUs.

Q: I have a 570 sf apartment which is heated with an 8' LF x 9" high cast iron radiator. It has been suggested that we could replace it with a toe kick heater -- would one or two units in series be sufficient to heat this space.

To properly size a kickspace heater, you must know the BTU load for the area you are heating. Our rough estimate for BTU amount you need is 22,000 BTUs. So with 180 degree water temperature, you would need two K120 units, as each one would produce 12,000 BTUs at the 180 degree temperature.

Q: Are there any wall units big enough to heat a 16' X 16' room?

The K120 would be sufficient to heat a 16X16 room. If you wanted to put the unit in a wall you would also need to purchase a wall kit, W120. http://www.pexsupply.com/Beacon-Morris-W120-W120-Recessed-Cabinet-Kit-9765000-p

I am using them in a similar size room and they work great. The final answer depends on the insulation of the room and the water temperature you are using in the product. Around 160F water temp will give a greater output. 180F even better. My unit runs at 160F and keeps the room warm. I have a wall stat that stops the fan at 74F to control the room temp also.
