Did what it was designed to do

Fit my B&G pump perfectly and did the job. The instructions fail to mention that the ceramic washer/gasket has a groove in it that needs to go in one way. I found a You Tube video that showed the right way.

I like the straight forward manner of how this seal design works, and lasted over 35 years. Replacement was actually pretty easy, I opted to replace the lower retaining seat ring, which I would not recommend doing. It was hard to tell exactly how it sat in there, because of the black sediment on everything, but it just keeps the ceramic seal from rotating. The inner most rubber seal can be removed without removing it, and it's actually a little tricky to get back in straight, and there is only one in the kit. Don't forget the pump housing gasket too.
