Hi Russell. No, these are for use with 3/8" PEX tubing only. You would specifically need to use 3/8" polybutylene rings, which unfortunately we do not currently sell by themselves.
Yes, the crimp connection system is suitable for hot water installation. The max temp would be 200 degrees F.
the pex crimp system is compatible with cold water, hot water, and glycol. all pex tube is ok for hot or cold water. they are available in colors to identify use. there is special tube for in floor glycol heating, but crimp is the same. there are other crimp or connectors that work with pex that commercial plumbers use that require special equipment. I am not a plumber by trade but have used pex ring connector system for years and feel it is the only way to go. I have never had a problem. you should however by quality crimpers and check your connections with a guage to insure a proper crimp. hope this helps.
I used them on my whole house cold and hot water 5yrs ago no probs. I don't know about glycol
Yes it is. Has been used in Europe for many years.

Yes all crimp tools are universal.
It is not recommended to have any fittings under ground. With that said, I believe that the pex crimp fittings will do as well as any other fittings in a direct burial situation. Take care to bury the whole pipeline in clean sand free of stones. You may want to use some 2" vinyl tape on the fittings to help with moisture protection, but I'm not sure that's really needed. Yes, as with any metal underground it would always be best to put a sleeve over it.
Crimp rings are sized based on the nominal size of the PEX with which they are compatible. This 5/8" ring (part HCRIMP06) works with 5/8" PEX. 5/8" PEX has a .574" inside diameter and a .750" outside diameter.
It's the size of the piping that it fits on. The ring diameter has nothing to do with the size.
if it's a 1/2" crimp ring it will fit on 1/2" pex. The crimp ring slides over the pex, so even the ID is a bit bigger than 1/2", but it gets squashed there and will fit.
Dave, The ring is sold as a match to pex pipe which comes in standard sizes of 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1" sizes. Normally, pipe is sold with the measurement meaning the inside diameter (or ID) as it is referred to. The crimp ring will have and inside diameter that will be a little bit larger than the OD (outside diameter) of the pex pipe. Whatever size pipe you feel you need for fluid transport (as listed earlier) you buy the crimps to match. They are not sold by their actual size but for the pipe they are used on.
Typically you buy the crimp rings depending on the size of pipe you are using it on. If you have 5/8" PEX then buy 5/8" crimp rings. If you are using them for something besides PEX (which I wouldn't reccomend) typically PEX sizes are mesured by outer diamter, and crimp rings are designed to fit over the outside of the pipe, so a 5/8" crimp ring would have an inside diameter of 5/8"
These rings will work with any standard PEX crimping tool, any standard 1" PEX tubing, and any standard 1" PEX crimp fittings.
These rings are universal. I used following tool with several brands of copper rings: http://www.pexsupply.com/HydroPEX-CRIMPTOOL-15-Crimp-All-3-8-3-4-Combo-Tool- Kit Worked very well for all sizes.
I used a pex crimp tool that i got from Lowes. I think the brand is Apollo. It worked fine for me.
no
I use the Apollo crimper, and they work just fine. I see no reason the Viega wouldn't work just as well.
Viega tool can be used with the copper rings. I did my whole house using this system with the half inch. The one inch tool is just more expensive. Sent from my iPhone

Yes, I believe aquaPEX is not the oxygen barrier, so it should work. You will need a crimping tool to crimp them down.
Yes, the Wirsbo Aquapex tubing fits standard copper compression rings. Aquapex is a very high-quality tubing well suited to compression fittings. I have had no problems in three years of use, even though parts of the lines have frozen solid several times. -- Sent from my HP TouchPad
Yes, they will. As always, check the crimp with your go/no go gauge. Sent from my Motorola Smartphone on the Now Network from Sprint!
Crimp fittings are not available for 1-1/4" PEX. You may want to consider ProPEX fittings (only compatible with PEX-A) or the 1-1/4" WIPEX fitting.
A toilet swivel adapter is a fitting that allows you to crimp PEX tubing to the toilet supply.
