better than plastic
I'm using this to connect PEX to existing galvanized in bad condition going to a shower. The end of the steel is too corroded to get a good seal on a gasket such as those in plastic elbows. This seals using the threads so works really well for this application. At least until I retrofit the bathrooms and replace the last segment of galvanized!

Well made, but not completely machined.
This adapter seems well made, but the photos at supplyhouse.com don't show the inside of the threaded part of the fitting. That side is only drilled to the depth of the threads, and then a small hole is bored to meet the path of the barbed end of the adapter. I had to buy some other fittings locally and decided to buy and use the sharkbite brand version of this product instead. As you can see in my photo, the sharkbite branded fitting is bored to a much larger diameter at the bottom of the threaded side. I think it will be much less restrictive. The sharkbite version of the 90 degree barb x npt fittings have a hex shape on the NPT end as well, which makes tightening a bit easier.
