Boiler replacement

I had this Boiler installed in Oct. of 2012 and it performs just wonderfull in our Minnesota climate. No trouble. Have a 1900 sguare foot home with 4 zones. I had a good dealer and they let me do the Electrical work.. I am a semi retired Master Electrician, and saved money on the intallation. My Son in law just intalled a Knight Lochinvar Boiler that also works very well. Would recomend either one.

The boiler comes with the low loss header, so it is not needed separately. The ones on the site are for replacement if needed.

There is not. Any low-voltage programmable thermostat should be compatible with a system that is fueled with this boiler.

Q: Will this Boiler come with a manifold system if purchased? What other products would be required to install this boiler?

This boiler comes with the appropriate technical documents, a wall bracket, compression fittings, AM10 with outdoor sensor, flue gas adapter, propane conversion kit, boiler connection kit including DHW sensor, and the GB142 boiler manifold including low loss header, pressure relief valve, tridicator, DHW connections, Grundfoss 15-58 3-speed boiler circulator, and supply and return shut-off ball valves. This information can be found in the "Installation Instructions" under the "Manuals" tab of this product. In addition, this manual states that you will need the standard tools for space heating, gas and water fitting, and also suggests that a handtruck with a fastening belt would be useful for the installation of this product.

Dear Colby, Yes this boiler does come with its own manifold to tie in both the hot water for your radiant heating and also a couple pipe stubs on the manifold to tie in your indirect hot water heater. Depending on your area your going to need a double check backflow preventer, and also depending upon what boiler system your replacing you may need: a properly sized extrol expansion tank, an air purger, an auto air eliminator, Grundfos zone pumps or Honeywell zone valves, taco isolation flanges for the pump, a heat load calculation performed by a heating professional, a taco zone control which matches either your zone pumps or valves, Honeywell thermostats, lots of copper fittings to tie it all together, and a good mechanical drawing of proper pipe sizing and pipe layout for your primary and secondary loops in the mechanical room. Doing a proper installation on a boiler system can be quite complicated and really should be overseen by a professional. We do consuling and design for homeowners who want to install their own boilers so give us a call or email if you need help. Our email is ****@***.***. You can reach us by phone***.****.

Yes this boiler comes with the required manifold with manifold circulating pump. There are different ways to hook this unit up, i've done two different. In both you will need the usual expansion tank, air scoop, zone circulating pump/s, etc. The first time I installed this I used zone control valves to call for heat in 3 different zones (3 zone control valves) with one circulating pump to push water. The second time I used separate circulating pumps and pump relays (honeywell RA832A1066 but taco makes a good one too). And of course it depends on if you are hooking up radiators or radiant tubes, etc and the associated manifolds and copper needed to do that. Good luck!

I think this boiler would be an excellent choice for you. I have about the same amount of floor space and it does the job for me easily. Also very efficient. Sent from my iPhone

To whom it may concern: 25 BTU per sq ft is a good rule of thumb, but in order to know for sure you should have a heat load calculation performed on your structure. It will be specific for the area that you live in, and if you have the right company perform the analysis it will give you the exact BTU needed to heat your building. I recommend sending your information to Ray Heating & AC Inc. and they will do the computer generated heat loads for you. The cost for a home like yours would be around 250 bucks.

HEY Zippy, it could probaly work if you were heating with radiant floors. ( more radaition surface per sq' ) but not with radaitors or baseboard . you need around 75,000. Chris

This boiler should be more than adequate. You can try our BTU Calculator ( http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/BTUCalculator ), but you would need to perform a heat-loss calculation to get a precise BTU requirement.
