A must have for installing Fantech fan

I bought these to go with the silencer and found out they were absolutely necessary when mounting the fan unit. Fantech needs to give more information to homeowners so they buy and install everything they need for this great system. Great products...they just need to be more specific about they things you must also buy so the system works as designed. Fan, FC10 clamps, silencer and damper.

usable, but not great

These are OEM collars that are recommended for the install, but overall they are average at best. They likely do insulate a bit with the soft connection, but they are just not long enough to grab both sides well and i found them cumbersome to install. I wish i had just passed on them and used crimped and foil tapped connections. I think that is better. The only good thing is they do have small pop outs that can be used for support, but its not a big enough bonus to want to use them. Strapping is fine without them.

Clamps are very helpful in adding sections for easy removal

I have the clamps holding short sections of rigid ductwork to both sides of the booster fan. Makes it easy to remove for inspection and cleaning. Be careful using a drill driver as the screw material is easily stripped since they are soft metal.

critical component

A lot of folks don't seem to know about dryer duct booster fans. While these clamps could be used for other installations-- a simple duct fan-- the dryer duct booster fan is where they pay for themselves. Periodically you need to remove the fan and clean it. If you have to remove the tape and all each time, it's a nuisance. Where these really helped me was when I replaced my duct boost fan, only to find it shorter than the original. These clamps allowed me enough space to mount the fan securely without having to rework the ducts somehow.

Well-designed, great performance

I'm a DIY'er and used these to secure insulated flex duct for two new exhaust fans in a master bathroom. Compared to hose/duct clamps I'm used to seeing in hardware/big-box stores, these are so much better in performance and ease of installation. They're wide and rubber-lined so they stay in place during assembly, even before tightening, and once tightened, they create an extremely secure, air-tight seal. The rubber lining also acts as an insulator for the final three inches to the roof cap and fan port. Will buy again for a guest bathroom duct upgrade.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: The FC4 Clamp product info. states that they are sold in pairs, but the Qty/Price is $13.15 each. Does this mean $26.30 for the pair or $13.15 for the pair? Also for the Qty. when I need two do I order one set or two in the quantity? Sorry for the confusion.
