A nipple is a short piece of pipe with male pipe threads at both ends. It is used to connect two female threaded galvanized steel pipes. The length of the nipple is specified by the overall length including the threads. A "close nipple" has no unthreaded area and is virtually unexposed when connected to two female fittings.
Galvanized nipples are made from zinc-coated steel. They are commonly used for outdoor and industrial applications. They may be used in most applications with the exception of underground lines. These nipples work best with cold water lines, but are suitable for hot water lines as well. The main advantage of using galvanized nipples is their superior rust resistance when compared to black and copper nipples.
We offer a wide selection of
Boshart galvanized nipples in sizes from 1/4" to 2" in diameter and 1" to 6" in length.
