Grundfos Pumps is proud to bring the comfort and savings of hot water recirculation to the existing homes market with the Comfort Series Instant Hot Water System. The Comfort System includes a Grundfos UP15-10SU7/TLC circulator and the revolutionary Comfort Valve. The stainless steel circulator, complete with timer and 10-foot power cord, is installed directly to the hot water discharge on the water heater. The Comfort Valve is installed under the sink at the fixture furthest from the water heater, and the system uses the existing cold water line to return hot water to the water heater.
The Comfort System is designed to give homeowners the added comfort and convenience of instant hot water and reduce the amount of wasted water. Unlike our competitor's products, there are no pumps under sinks (and thus no power required under sinks), no return lines required, and no buttons to push. Set the timer on the Grundfos pump and stop waiting for hot water.

It's possible. This is a water-lubricated pump. If it runs while there is no water in the lines, the motor could blow out. This is known as dead heading.
If you have the proper knowledge and tools, it should not be difficult to install this pump.
The pump will have no problem. We recommend that you check with the manufacturer of the water heater to make sure you can use a recirculation pump.
the water heater will continually heat water because of the continuous demand for hot water. The water heater should shut off once the water being sent back to the heater reaches the desired temp set at the water heater. You can set the timer on the pump to run only during peak demand hours. you may experience more hot water on the cold side when you want cold water. check with the manufacturer recommendations on using return lines and re-circulation pumps.
Yes, that could be an issue.
Generally you would not need to if you install the unit on the farthest fixture.

Depending on your GPM requirements, it may be necessary for you to go with a larger pump.
This pump is designed for plumbing applications (to get hot water to showers and faucets more quickly). For baseboard heating systems, you will need a standard circulator pump. Sizing will be based on flow rate and head pressure.
Grundfos is a European company that has been around for over 60 years. Their pumps usually last at least 10-15 years, with water quality playing a major role in pump life. This pump does not require any routine maintenance.
