All-purpose, tough, pliable seal for joints, valves, flanges, and gaskets Puts joints into service in minutes
An excellent gasket seal
Sets up quickly and dries to form a very tough, yet flexible seal which will not harden, crack, crumble or shrink.
Seals old or worn fittings
Ideal for pumps, tanks and equipment carrying steam, water, oil, gasoline, fuel oil, hydraulic fluids, natural and LP gas (vapor state), anti-freeze, refrigerants except ammonia, lubricants, glycerin, solvents, brine and other gases, liquids and chemicals (see spec sheet for specifics).
For use on all metals, including galvanized steel, black iron, aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and on PVC, ABS, and CPVC plastics (for use on specific brands of CPVC pipe, verify suitability with pipe manufacturer).
Provides leak-proof resistance to high pressure, temperature, expansion, contraction and extreme vibration. Grit-free; non-separating, distinctive non-runny consistency.
Can easily be cleaned from tools and hands with isopropyl alcohol or Hercules for Hands towels.
I hate tapered thread connections, I do everything by the book, a wrap of teflon tape in the right direction, in back of the engagement threads, supplemented by some pipe compound a little further back. 50% of my connections weep. I don't even know why they make that stuff anymore.
Anyway, sometimes you have no choice, and after suffering through a weeping expansion tank connection (which had to be located below the hwt, meaning it had to be drained), I tried this. Voila, no more leaks.
Note I let the product cure or dry (or whatever) for as long as possible, overnight is good. Also, I tried Grrip with equal success, not sure there's any difference.
Finally, the brush in the can stinks, it's a bloody mess. I cut it off and strap a shortened art brush to the can with a hair scrunchy, much cleaner. This stuff sticks to surfaces like enamel paint.

Didn't stop my leak
I had a leak were a 1" copper MNPT screwed into a stainless ball valve. It only runs about 15 to 20 psi. It constantly drips. It originally had a few wraps of 'teflon' tape and leaked. So I tightened some more. Still leaked. Disassembled, cleaned and tried this Block. Let sit about 12 hours after reassembly. Still leaked. It is to the point that I do not want to tighten anymore. May try permatex, or replace the Cu fitting. I suspect that the copper fitting is defective. I am not recommending this product based on my personal experience. It may be OK, but didn't work for me.

Great product
This stuff really works where other sealers could not create a seal that worked. One application on each side gave me the seal that I needed and was able to get my tractor back up and running again. I will going to this product first from now on.

Great product, but a mess to use
I have used the "blue goo" for years. It is a great product for pipe thread and also gasket type surfaces, but it gets on everything and can be a real mess. However, it does clean up with rubbing alcohol.
What I really like is that the base solvent is alcohol instead a petroleum product. I am sometimes working on closed systems that have rubber gaskets that specifically say no petroleum products because they can damage the gaskets, so that is when I specifically use this product.
One problem is that this will set hard after a few years and can be real pain to clean off an old joint if you need to do a repair job years later. So I will use a "soft-set" type of pipe dope if I think I will be taking the joint apart in the future.

Sealed leak on hydronic baseboard with damaged threads
Q: I have pvc pipe that connects into a cast iron pipe. There is a small leak somewhere in the connection. It has been sealed with a rubber waterproof sealant once but am wondering if this wouldn't be a better product. Can this be used over another product? Also, can it be used over a rubber material as well as pvc and cast iron? Are there any stores such as Menards, Lowes, Home Depot that carry your product?

yes it can, how effective it is will depend on how big the leak is, yes it can. Not sure who else carries these products.
