The RRD is a round damper that is easily inserted into rigid round ducts for retrofit zoning in forced air heating and cooling systems. It is available in four sizes for use in 5 in., 6 in., 7 in., and 8 in. ducts. The damper is used with Honeywell HZ221, HZ311, HZ322, HZ432 and similar zone control systems. The power open, power closed actuator draws 2.5 VA allowing multiple dampers per zone, but delivers high torque for reliable operation.
Product Features:
Easy slide-in installation
2.5 VA allows for many dampers on one zone
Available in 4 sizes to fit most rigid round branch ducts
Quiet, long life motor automatically shuts itself off in full open and closed positions
Gaskets around blade and under motor housing for low internal leakage and very low external leakage
Range stops with easy adjustment from top of motor
Easy to see and reliable mechanical blade position indicator
Easy to hook up with conventional thermostat wire
Simple manual blade positioning with push button gear release
This is a good replacement for an existing Honeywell RRD -- they all will eventually fail within 1-5 years. The motors are mediocre, but improving. If you are installing new I would steer well away from RRD dampers and use The Honeywell truzone like the ARD6TZ... they are rigid vents and will have less friction during damper use -- lasting much longer than these RRDs.

Nearly all defective after 3 years
We have seen an almost universal failure rate of these dampers within 3 years. When opening one of the defective units, the gears in the motor are plastic and were worn out. The installation was done correctly without any rubbing or interruption, so there is no reason that the units should go bad within 3 years. This is a total piece of junk.

They have been working for years
I just added two zones. I have about 15 of these dampers and they all seem to be working fine after about 6 years.

Arrived on time
I have always had good luck with Supply House and there products, however in this order of 8 dampers 4 of them were used. They were missing screws and had been previously been installed somewhere else. they did work after being installed.

Great Product
We purchased these dampers to be paired with a Honeywell zoning panel to zone our existing finished walkout basement from our upstairs. The dampers work great to maintain a nice warm temperature downstairs without the upstairs being a sauna.

Good tight sealing damper
We had an 8" x 10" rectangular damper in a supply air run to an air-flow sensitive zone that just could not prevent a small amount of bypass air around the damper and would whistle if it was closed. Installing this 8" damper in the branch run solved the problem. Its rubber seal made for a tight air seal without any noise or whistle.

Honeywell round damper
This devise used in duct work to help regulate multi zone heating and air. They work well, but since they open and close many times per day...often per hour, they wear out in 2 to 5 years. If you have a number installed..could be from half a dozen to 12+. at @$100 each the homeowner will find themselves facing a hefty bill every few years. Local distributor, Supply House service and delivery is superb!

They work, but for how long?
They install easily, are made of solid materials except for the motors themselves. The motors are plastic and when operating you can tell they have cheap plastic internal parts. Supposedly they'll last up to 100,000 cycles, hopefully that's true. The ones I received were different than what is pictured. They've updated the black motors to a light gray model.
