It works
I have a sink in my basement next to my washing machine. It had had some trouble with backups. I added this device and the sink has not backed up since.

Worked perfectly for my purpose
My sump line empties directly into the lake where I live. When the lake level rises, it can flow into my sump line. I installed the device at the end of the pipe. This completely stopped the reverse flow into the pipe. Sump is much more efficient now.
