Installed on basement washing machine standpipe before entering main waste line. Will avert disaster should main line back up.

Worked perfectly for my purpose
My sump line empties directly into the lake where I live. When the lake level rises, it can flow into my sump line. I installed the device at the end of the pipe. This completely stopped the reverse flow into the pipe. Sump is much more efficient now.
