Tri-Tank to Bowl Bolt Kit For American Standard

This kit has everything you need for a sort of "universal" tank-to-bowl kit. - 3 bolts - 6 metal washers - 6 rubber washers - 6 nuts There's significant advantage to being able to attach the bolts to the tank with the first set of nuts and washers. #1 - It means you can "set" the bolts to the tank while the tank is separate from the bowl (and so much easier to work with) #2 - It means that you can apply a second set of rubber washers to the bottom of the tank, which will increase the reliability of the water-tight seal between bolt-hole and tank. You then attach the now-not-loose bolts to the bowl with the remaining washers and nuts. (see figure) It just makes the work easier and more reliable, even though there is a slight amount of additional work involved "double-nutting" the tank bolts.
