It works, but wish it was made sturdier

Our installation of the Whisper Comfort and this adapter was in a concrete monolithic dome. This is much better than punching two four inch holes In the concrete, but for the money paid, I wish it was more than a styrofoam tube divided in the middle with plastic fittings and housing in the ends. A rigid plastic enclosure would make it better suited for kind term use and lower stress during installation.

Not quite the same distance apart

I bought this with the Panasonic WhisperComfort 40/20 or 20/10 CFM Ceiling Spot Energy Recov. Ventilator to vent outside. It's very light as it's mostly foam. The thing we didn't anticipate was the distance between the two vents going to the IAQ being different. We thought they'd connect directly, but they don't and a flexible pipe is needed (like a dryer vent hose) as well as metal tape to connect it all together. Once installed it works great - but added quite a bit more length to the opening of the ceiling.

Easy installation

This cap installed easily through exterior wall and mounted nicely up against the vinyl siding. The hood is very sturdy and seems like it will hold up well over the years.

Good product for certain areas

Easy installation, compact design. Great for spot HRV/ERV and retrofitting an older building if you switched from gravity vent appliances to direct vent. If you are looking for a whole house HRV/ERV for new construction I would recommend the Venmar EKO 1.5. It is a little more versatile for a whole house air exchanger.

efficient design, sturdy construction, easy to install

The benefit of this wall cap is only needing one hole for the ERV ducting that can fit easily in one floor joist (or ceiling rafter) bay. Alternatively, you are supposed to use two separate wall keeps, spaced at least 3ft apart. I bought and installed 3 of these (one for each level of the house, since we were spray foaming the envelope. It's pretty easy to install, and the only hurdle is finding an appropriate size hole saw. I chose 5-3/4", which was not easy to find, but a 5.5" or 6" would do the trick just as well. Even though it's made from Styrofoam, it's pretty thick, and so not easy to break. Packaging was enough to keep it safe and secure with a "Fragile" sticker on the box. Competitive price, and package arrived quickly.
