Description

Utilizes both styles of clips, either RB Stand-Off or RB Flush Mount Clips can be applied for radiant heating and potable water installations. This RB-5 Clip gun is lightweight and portable.

Just load in a strip of clips, align the gun over the tubing, and fire away. The RB-5 Manual Clip Gun utilizes RB Clips with two nails - not staples - that are driven 5/8" into the wood. The result is quick and safe attachment of radiant heating tubing or plastic water pipe.

And, because no power supply is needed to operate the clip gun, it can be used in any work situation, from new homes to retrofits, at any stage of construction (at an very economical cost!).

I would buy this produce again

I use the produce to cut time and cost on installing clips for hangers on various pex piping for my plumbing business. Its great for cost cutting, It allows my workers to put up piping fast and easy. The only draw back is that the staples don't always fire after the initial 3 pumps to install them.

It's ok, but talon clips are better

The gun works, but the little nails are too easy to pull out, and don't hold the pipe as well as a simple talon clip. Save your money and use a hammer.

It does the job

As a homeowner putting the radiant floor PEX back in place after doing so floor work this is the correct and best solution to put things back in place. If I was a contractor doing this for a living I'd want the pneumatic version so my hand didn't cramp. This is a good product. Buy it with confidence.

Great concept but….

I like how it functions but the "j hooks" come out of studs very easy. As long as the other trades don't look at your pipes it will be fine

Does not perform

Thought this product was a great idea. Ordered and was immediately disappointed. The hanger staples that go to the gun don't hold the pipe secure and could not possibly be expected to hold pipe steady over any time even with double applications.

Works well with new construction - avoid for older homes

This is a decent and economical tool for smaller jobs. It doesn't jam often, but if there is any upwards resistance from the pipe it will not eject. For larger jobs and more frequent usage, the pneumatic is probably the way to go. I am holding out that Milwaukee will eventually come out with an M12 version so that I don't have to lug the pancake compressor and a hose around. I do wish that you did t have to squeeze it twice to get the staple in. Another takeaway 8s that it is extremely easy to pinch your palm under the handle. You'll learn very quickly to watch your placement when squeezing. The other issue I've found relates to the age of the wood in the home. The wood in older homes (50s and prior) is much harder than modern construction. It's been a gamble on whether the staples will sink into the wood, but generally I've had poor results with older homes and have to resort to using nail on straps to secure the pipe. Anything that may be even close to "iron wood" is a no go. I will still give this 4 stars because there is absolutely nothing even remotely close to it in this price range on the market. One final note: if you have a Watts Pipefast stapler, it is EXACTLY the same as this machine and all staples are compatible. I think a Watts must have licensed the product.

Nope

Lots of mis fires! Frustrating stapling tubes in place and no staples came out. I noticed I was sent 2 different shaped staples. Perhaps the mistake is my own. Does not however make me feel any better about this staple gun. Fire it 3 times to drive a staple? Over head above a duct and no staple comes out. In my younger days I'd have tossed it. Now I study it and plod ahead. Laughing at myself as I go. Yikes

Q: How deep does the nail penetrate the wood? Also, is it better to use the stand off or flush clips?

They are driven 5/8" into the wood.

Hey Greg, Looks like the nail penetrates a little over 3/8"....kind of hard to tell and it would depend on the number of strikes and hardness of the material. I only ever used a standoff clip that holds the tubing just off the surface- I liked the idea because it would keep the tubing from moving over rough surfaces when expanding/contracting and could conceivably keep things qiueter. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer a clip for 3/4" PEX-AL-PEX tubing.

It is the same clips. The piece you see in the picture is the clip to hold the handle down while being stored.
