These baseboard heaters must be used with a Qmark thermostat. The thermostat that can be used with the Qmark HBB baseboard heater would be SKU: HBBT1(single pole) or SKU:HBBT2 (double pole). Any newer version of baseboard is going to more efficient than a system that is 30 years old. These units are considered more efficient as they give you the flexibility to heat only the desired areas you wish to heat, or you can use them as your sole source of heating.
The manufacturer recommends 10 watts per square foot. So, in your case, you would need a 1600 watt heater. As a side note, the room should be well insulated (4" walls and 6" ceiling).
