Flared connections fitted with Flaretite Seals are today’s answer to low cost, high integrity, “Zero-Leak” fittings, while complying with new international standards. This unique seal may be fitted to 45° SAE, refrigeration and gas fittings. The introduction of the Flaretite Seal eliminates the weakness in the original flare design.

Do not buy, except in desperate flare sealing emergency
The Rectorseal recommended torques are WAY too high! In the 1/4" flare size, 11 ft-lbs (accurate, calibrated instrument) was enough to SMASH the Flaretite seal inside the flare joint, actually separating it into a top ring and a bottom ring. A mere 8 ft-lbs was enough to extrude the purple "loc-tite" coating down into the flow stream. Had I not removed it (due to my own testing and suspicions) this junk would have gotten into the refrigerant flow - and this system has no strainer.
It sealed 297.0 psig without damage on the 1/4" line for 13 minutes at 5 lb-ft torque, but that seems insufficient torque to reliably seal r410A for years. I'm going back to straight flares, no Flaretite seals!
Bad news and so sad, I had high hopes for this product. Rectorseal should do more testing and R&D to improve this product and/or its application. It has potential - but not like this!
