Easy to install, poor customer service
Bought two UF 12 radiators for a low temp hydronic system I put together in my home running off a hot water tank.
The install was easy, I found that teflon tape alone was not enough to seal the plugs and the valves to the radiator and I ended up using rector seal no 5 instead.
I purchased these because I needed a hydronic baseboard radiator and didn't want to use sharkfin as they look dated.
My Complaint:
On the 12' radiators there is a joint in the top mesh cover welded to the radiator and the radiator tends to flex more at this point. The radiators come with 4 mounting brackets. 4 is not enough as there is alot of flex in these radiators due to the length and I wish I had 2 more mounting brackets per radiator to keep them straight along the wall.
I emailed Runtal a week ago about getting more brackets but haven't received a response yet. I guess I will have to call them next.

I'm unhappy with the failure of your phone sales people to be honest or even knowledgeable about what you sell. I was promised a gray-white color; what I got was white. Not what I wanted, though I'll live with it and curse every time I look at the unit.

Service has been great.
My first order of the Runtal baseboard was missing one radiator however they immediately sent out another unit in its place. I received the missing unit within a couple of days. Supply House did send out the complete order initially but somehow it was lost in shipping.
The Runtal baseboards are installed and working great.
We especially like the slim custom look that has enhanced our new home.

The price is exorbitant
Love this emitter, it is of high quality, however this may be the last one I purchase. I just can't justify the cost. The unit itself is costly, then the accessories but it over the top. I would recommend to a friend with this caveat.
The unit came package very well and arrive quickly.

Q: I want to use these where the supply and return sides are on the bottom for some locations and the side for others. Do I need to order additional parts to make that happen? Also, do the air vents come with these or is that something that should be ordered?

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffYes, Radiators can be painted after sanding with fine grit paper to dull the high gloss and by wiping with solvent or a tack rag. Use only oil-based enamel paint (alkyd, acrylic, urethane, epoxy) –do not use latex or lacquer paint Use urethane or epoxy enamel for radiators located in harsh environments. Spray the paint to achieve an even coating, and let dry completely before heating the radiator.

Q: My existing baseboard heaters are supplied with 3/4" pipe and the system is a single zone. The bathroom is in the middle of the house where I want to replace the old baseboard with a 4ft unit. The sp says it is 1/2" threads on the supply pipe. Will this slow down the flow to the whole heating system in the house?

I know in my radiators a majority of the heart comes from the fins behind the solid fronts. I world's think you would end up heating the interior of the walk rather than the room. They are only an inch deep...just hang them on the exterior.

These radiators could be installed in a niche if you want to take the time to build one. Still need an inch or better clearance above and below for air circulation.

Q: Can all UF series "baseboards" also be mounted on the wall like a wall radiator? Also can these be piped from the rear? Lastly, are the valves absolutely required or can you just pipe a direct connection and hide the copper pipe with vertical trim pieces?

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThe UF radiators are a wall mounted radiator. Each unit is shipped with the wall mounting, which is recommended to mount the units 3" above the floor. The pipes can not be piped from the rear, only the bottom or the sides of the unit. Consult with local code to determine if the valve shut offs are required, as not all locations need them installed.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffYes, the end caps will extend the baseboard slightly depending on which one is used. The caps require a 2" over lap so the 6" end caps would extend by at least 4", and the 12" end caps would extend by at least 10".
