The Bolt Heads Intersect With With Handle, Preventing The Flange From Rotating, So If You Want You Handle To Line Up With Flange Bolts, Its Not Possible. Bad Oversight In Design.

Movable flanges like these are great as opposed to fixed flanges where they're a one piece casting.

I wouldn't put in a pump without them
Historically, I have had bad luck soldering full port valves on 1 1/4 copper. They tend to seep. But, these have never failed me. They always shutoff 100 %. Of course pump replacement is a breese.
