Q: I am replacing a Burnham oil boiler rated at 110 BTUs. I have 1760 sq ft served by 150 ft of finned forced-hot-water baseboard divided into 3 zones. your calculator says that I need 87,000 BTUs. Is the Solo 110 system rated at 86,000 BTU sufficient? Also, do I need more BTUs to have it heat a 40 or 50 gal indirect water heater set up as a high-priority 4th zone? If I need a bigger high-efficiency boiler, what would you recommend?

This unit would be roughly the right size (though slightly under-sized) based on our calculator. You may want to perform a whole-house heat loss calculation to get a more precise figure, but you do not need to add any BTUs for domestic water heating.

Q: I am replacing a oil fired boiler rated for 122,000 BTU capacity. I have 170' of finned tube baseboard in 3 zones. Will a PE 110 be big enough to handle the load?

Based on the BTU rating of your older unit, this will probably not work. This unit only has a 86,000 BTU output. Please call or speak to a technician to size a larger unit for your application requirements.
