  • Please consult the MANABLOC install instructions for a more comprehensive list of chemical materials that will cause harm to the MANABLOC plumbing system.
Compression MANABLOCs provide a home-run distribution manifold for the plumbing system. These MANABLOCs utilize either 3/8" or 1/2" distribution ports. Each MANABLOC comes factory pre-assembled with color coded hot and cold ports. All Compression MANABLOCs include port compression connections, drill templates, instruction guide, faceplate and port labels.

Great Product

Great product, easy to work with and great instructions. Does a good job of equalizing pressure/flow for individual fixtures (my house was run is series before) and it looks cool if you're neat about it.

Smart Design with some Negatives

Looked around for a good manifold system and this one impressed me for the most part, but the negative about this product is in the valves. I purchased the 18 port compression version with 1/2" ports, but was very disappointed in the valve port itself, which is only a 5/16" of an inch opening. Viega did not do anybody justice for using 1/2" PEX ports on this system when you are restricting the flow at the port with an opening of 5/16", the 3/8" version Manabloc probably would have had the same flow. Viega needs to redesign this unit with FULL PORT vales to give the customer 1/2" flow. Realizing that 1/2" PEX tubing is still only 3/8" ID, but at least you would have a full flow through the tubing and not a restriction at the valve. BAD design on Viega's part. Hope this helps others looking at flow through rates, pressure, etc.

Flood of 2018

My original 30 Port Compression Manabloc was leaking like the Titanic and I contacted a plumper but cost was too high and time was too long (2 weeks out). I needed help now, so I got on-line and reached SupplyHouse and within 5 business days I had my replacement 30 Port Compression Manabloc kit. I contact SupplyHouse and they assured me that I ordered the right kit. I installed it myself (easy with the help of SupplyHouse). The only issue I had was that I had ordered duplicate parts and when I returned them (which by the way was also an easy process), I was not credited the amount I paid. a small deduction was applied and I don't know why (Perhaps a re-storing charge of some kind). Other than that little hiccup, the overall experience was great!

Easier to install then thought

Had to replace my 13 year old 32port Manabloc which developed a crack. Replacement took almost a day. Make sure you purchase the custom wrench. I'm not a plumber and was surprised by it's ease to install.

Cannot be repaired

Initially I loved this product. Assembly went very easy. I recently went to add a new line to the system. When I did the compression fitting cross threaded. Trying to back it off the block for this valve broke. Here is where the problem is. You cannot repair the manifold. It's pressed together. No blocks are available locally or through the manufacturer. Bottom line you are left without water and need a new manifold.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: I currently have an extensive manifold distribution system that is about 20 years old with Polybutylene tubing (14 cold, 18 hot). The tubing is still doing well but the manifold has developed a pin leak. Is it possible to replace the manifold with the MANABLOC compression or brass crimp setup with the existing PB 1/2 inch tubing (.625 inch OD)? I know that replacing the whole system is in my future, but would like to phase the project.

The manufacturer does not recommend it: all MANABLOCs produced after 1995 are designed for use with PEX tubing.

- Jeff the Plumber

Yes, it can be done, but you need Polybutylene x PEX adapters to bring PEX to the new manifold.

We would recommend that you put the MANABLOC after the expansion tank.

Q: What is the best way to flush sediment from the hot water side of the Manabloc manifold? Manifold is 7 years old. Ran 100 gallons of clean hot water through the system from my NEW water heater and sediment is still coming out. Cold water is clear.

We would recommend that you remove one of the ports and flush the system out of that.

Q: Remodeling a house with only a kitchen sink, dishwasher, one shower, bathroom sink, lav and one outside hose bib. The home is in FL, so no worry of freezing. question is should i use 3/8 or 1/2 pipe and manifold. The compression fittings would be best as I have none of the tools for crimping.

We would recommend 1/2" because it is the more common size.

Q: If this is made by viega, do I have to use viega pex tubing? Or can I use wirsbo? Is there any advantage over the other?

This is made by Viega, but you can use Wirsbo tubing with it.

The real advantage to using Viega pex tubing is that it preserves your warranty! Other tubing works fine.

No, you don't need a specific brand of PEX tubing for this manifold. I use Rifeng when available, and have had good results.

Q: I would like to use both 1/2" and 3/8" distribution lines. I don't find adapters to use the 1/2" compression manifold with 3/8" pipe. Is it possible to do this?

There are no adapters to do this with for compression MANABLOCs, but there are combination compression MANABLOCs available that have some 1/2" ports and some 3/8" ports.

There are Viega Manifolds that provide both 1/2" and 3/8" ports. Or you could use a Sharkbite 1/2 to 3/8 fitting.

Q: I am thinking of installing the 30 port manifold in a 1920's house. i have a newly installed 1 in copper water service with a 140 ft run to the street. should i connect the cold to the manifold with 1in or reduce it to 3/4in? Also i have 3/4in coming off a 40gal indirect water heater is that sufficient to run the manifold? is there a minimum pressure needed for this manifold? i also need to run a sprinkler system with 3-400 feet of hose can a 1/2in in port handle this?

You can connect 3/4" or 1" to the MANABLOC. You will need more volume for the sprinkler, so we would recommend either 3/4" or 1".

This would probably be beneficial, as PEX is not immune to cracking under freezing conditions if water is left in the lines.
