  • Please consult the MANABLOC install instructions for a more comprehensive list of chemical materials that will cause harm to the MANABLOC plumbing system.
Compression MANABLOCs provide a home-run distribution manifold for the plumbing system. These MANABLOCs utilize either 3/8" or 1/2" distribution ports. Great Product

Great product, easy to work with and great instructions. Does a good job of equalizing pressure/flow for individual fixtures (my house was run is series before) and it looks cool if you're neat about it.

Smart Design with some Negatives

Looked around for a good manifold system and this one impressed me for the most part, but the negative about this product is in the valves. I purchased the 18 port compression version with 1/2" ports, but was very disappointed in the valve port itself, which is only a 5/16" of an inch opening. Viega did not do anybody justice for using 1/2" PEX ports on this system when you are restricting the flow at the port with an opening of 5/16", the 3/8" version Manabloc probably would have had the same flow. Viega needs to redesign this unit with FULL PORT vales to give the customer 1/2" flow. Realizing that 1/2" PEX tubing is still only 3/8" ID, but at least you would have a full flow through the tubing and not a restriction at the valve. BAD design on Viega's part. Hope this helps others looking at flow through rates, pressure, etc.

Flood of 2018

My original 30 Port Compression Manabloc was leaking like the Titanic and I contacted a plumper but cost was too high and time was too long (2 weeks out). I needed help now, so I got on-line and reached SupplyHouse and within 5 business days I had my replacement 30 Port Compression Manabloc kit. I contact SupplyHouse and they assured me that I ordered the right kit. I installed it myself (easy with the help of SupplyHouse). The only issue I had was that I had ordered duplicate parts and when I returned them (which by the way was also an easy process), I was not credited the amount I paid. a small deduction was applied and I don't know why (Perhaps a re-storing charge of some kind). Other than that little hiccup, the overall experience was great!

Easier to install then thought

Had to replace my 13 year old 32port Manabloc which developed a crack. Replacement took almost a day. Make sure you purchase the custom wrench. I'm not a plumber and was surprised by it's ease to install.

Cannot be repaired

Initially I loved this product. Assembly went very easy. I recently went to add a new line to the system. When I did the compression fitting cross threaded. Trying to back it off the block for this valve broke. Here is where the problem is. You cannot repair the manifold. It's pressed together. No blocks are available locally or through the manufacturer. Bottom line you are left without water and need a new manifold.

Q: It says in the specs that I need to order the supply connections (I assume that means the adapters). For this compression manabloc what connectors/adapters are needed for the 2 female and male supply connections?

Yes, supply adapters must be purchased separately. The kind that you need depends on the size of your supply tubing and whether you prefer threaded, crimp, or press connections. All the supply adapters we have available may be seen here: http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/category/~category_id=760/~refine=200764+100102

Q: Our manabloc is leaking between the the 'bloc sections'. Disassembled bloc and found damaged o-rings. Can these be replaced or is a new manabloc the solution? If o-rings are replaceable can you tell me the size? Thanks

Q: do i need to purchase anything extra to hook up a 1" supply line to the manifold or does it come with it

You will need to purchase the proper MANABLOC supply adapter separately.

If you get one of the kits that has a 1" supply line specified and you're using pex for those lines, then you would just need the crimp rings. Since the manifold can accept either 3/4 or 1 inch supply lines, you need to get those yourself. Everything else you need at the manifold end is included.

Q: So to be clear, the 18 port manifold comes with 18 1/2" compression fittings that I just crimp onto, or does it come with the 3 supply fittings for the water supply to the manifold?

It comes with the 18 1/2" compression fittings, but not the supply adapters.

Q: I am having trouble deciding on which manifold to choose - the compression manabloc or the brass pex crimp one. I already own the crimping tools. Is there any advantage of one over the other? Do I need and special tools with the compression manabloc?

Asked by Trigger 15 years ago

Since you already have the crimping tools, we would probably recommend that you go with the brass PEX crimp manabloc. There are really no advantages to speak of between the two. You would not need any special tools if you opt to go with the compression MANABLOC.

Q: Does the Manabloc manifold need to be installed in a vertical orientation? For example, could it be installed horizontally in the basement between floor joists?

It can be installed as you described; MANABLOCs will operate either vertically or horizontally.

Q: I have a 3/8" compression manabloc unit with 12 hot 18 cold, it is about 16 years old. Will this unit work with vanguard tubing 3/8" the i.d. is different than pex tubing. thank you, John

It appears that you have is polybutylene pipe, not PEX pipe. We do not believe it will work

Yes, this is pretty much the same thing I did, replace my 6 year old 3/8 Vanguard unit with thisn one

Q: I will be plumbing an apartment above my new garage (sink, 2 lavs, 2 toilets, tub/shower, shower, 2 outside hose bibs). I will need a 24 port manifold, but I must decide between 3/8 and 1/2 inch. I am leaning toward the 1/2 because I have plenty of room for larger bend radii and the water volume and pressure are expected to be greater. Should I go with the 1/2 inch, and will the volume/pressure be greater for showers, etc.?

We recommend that you use the 1/2 inch. The volume of showers that you will be using will likely be bigger than what the 3/8 inch can produce.

Q: Are individual fixture stops required by code when using something like this?

You will need to consult local code: some places require a valve at the fixture and some do not.

Q: The advertising states that this manifold is for plumbing projects. Does that exclude radiant floor heat for any reason?

The advertising is correct: Viega MANABLOCs may only be used for plumbing projects.
