This Convenient Complete Viega MANABLOC Plumbing Package with Port Adapters Includes the Following:

**Important**
  • The MANABLOC plumbing system carries a maximum pressure/temperature rating of 100 psi @ 180°F. Excessive pressure to the MANABLOC will cause leaks.

Q: Can I connect to the 3/4 NPT with a copper line or would this put to much stress on the manifold from expansion and/or contraction? If so how do you recommend connecting it.

Yes, the manabloc can be connected to a copper supply line without issue.

Q: Can I surface mount the Manbloc on a suitably sized piece of 1/2" plywood attached to the garage wall? I would guess I would bring each pex pipe out into a plastic bend support, that would be screwed to the plywood, and turn up into the attic? Thanks.

We always attach our blocks to plywood usually 3/4 plywood. Three to four feet wide is best. Use a gentle bend as you connect to the block. We never use the premade bends at the block just use nail clips to secure the tubing to the plywood. It's pretty easy to make it look professional with the nail clips and leaving plenty of tubing to make the sweeps into the block. Rick

Q: I have a zurn manifold that has 1 inch inlet. These only have a 3/4 inlet. I have a 1 inch supply line: . My problem is I'm afraid that the reduction from a 1 inch to 3/4 would not be a great choice. Please let me know if I am wrong here. I don't wanna have reduced flow due to smaller inlet. Thank you!!!!!

You can use MANABLOCs with 1" inlet lines. You just need to get 1" supply adapters (part 46656 for threaded) instead of the 3/4" ones included in this package.

Much depends on water pressure. In a typical installation the reduction in flow is minimal. If you are concerned you can split the inlet and connect to both inlets in the manifold. Sent from my iPhone

Won't be an issue with either pressure or volume. Rick

Q: Would it be possible to include a flow diagram for the MANABLOC’s? I see two connections at one end and one at the other. Then, a few scenarios detailing the proper use would be nice.

The manifold I bought and installed was a larger size but i believe they are "plumbed" the same! The single inlet I placed at the bottom and used this for my cold water (well) inlet. The fitting then on the top on the cold water side (as indicated by the blue knobs) was used to feed the cold water to the water heater. The remaining fitting on the top (on The red handle side) was used to bring the hot water from the water heater back into the manifold. Hope this helps.

Q: What needs to be done to a port that is not used?

All you need to do is close the valves on those ports, but you can also cap them off (using part 36205) for an extra layer of protection and to give the MANABLOC a more finished look.

You can buy caps and they just screw in. It is as easy as it can get.

Nothing needs to be done to the port that isn't used. The built in ball valve isolates it. Sent via DroidX2 on Verizon Wireless™

Q: If I have a choice between the crimp or compression fittings , is one better than the other ? The unit will be drained for the winter months. Also, the water supply is spring water , & or well water. I'm planning on using an instant on hot water supply. I've heard that the hard water can corrode the element in the instant on water supply? Will the hard water effect the manifold? Thanks

The method of connection on the MANABLOC is more of a preference than anything else. Some people prefer crimp connections because they have the tools to use for it and others prefer compression connections because it requires no tools and because of familiarity. In regards to the instant hot water, many of those have stainless steel heat exchangers so they are very resistant to corrosion. Hard water should not have an adverse effect on the MANABLOC.

I prefer to use crimp connections as it is a much faster install as long as you have the tool. As for hard water, we have extremely hard water and I have had no issue with this manifold in the year we have been using it. Typically hard water affects heating elements but not piping as much.

Use crimp it's quick and easy and the tool is pretty inexpensive

You will not have any problem bleeding the air from the manifold. Keep in mind that whenever you install these they are always filled with air. Just open the valves and let the water fill the manifold and lines. Sent from my iPad

As long as you bleed the individual lines that you have hooked up you should not have any problems. I used my manifold with a water heater and now with a tankless water heater and didn't have any issues bleeding the air, I just had to bleed it at each fixture in the house.

Yes, the fittings that come with the crimp-style MANABLOC work with either copper crimp rings or stainless steel clamp rings.

No, it does not. Any brand should be compatible. You should use PEX tubing without an oxygen barrier that is approved for potable water use.
