The Manabloc is a water distribution station, and is not a pressure balancing valve. Therefore, separate manifolds would not assist with pressure differences. The MANABLOC system great for potable water applications; faster installation, fewer fittings, excellent resistance to chlorine, and fast hot water delivery.
Yes, you can use a MANABLOC with 1 inch connection on both top and bottom as long as you order the 1" MANABLOC Supply Adapters.
The hot water supply must come from a water heater. You have the option of supplying cold water to the water heater from the MANABLOC, or just branching off your cold line before it reaches the MANABLOC. This second method is more common and would require you to cap off one of the three supply ports (using part 53601). Keep in mind that supply adapters are only available in 3/4" and 1" sizes.
Viega's MANABLOC provides a convenient way to run PEX plumbing lines in a 'home-run' style (i.e. a separate line running all the way from a single manifold to each fixture). This is a PEX Press MANABLOC, and you'll need a PEX Press tool in order to make fitting connections at the distribution ports. You can use compressed air to blow out the lines before any periods of non-use.
All MANABLOC manifolds come with either 1/2" or 3/8" adapters for each distribution port. The "packages" that we put together also include two supply port fittings and a supply port end cap.
PEX is generally easier to install than copper. PEX is flexible, making it easier to run between walls and demanding fewer fittings. Any fittings that are required will not need to be soldered. The price of PEX is generally less than that of copper, and it does not fluctuate as much. PEX is chemically inert and corrosion resistant. For potable water plumbing, you need to use PEX that does not have any oxygen barrier. There are many options when it comes to PEX fittings and manifolds. You can use crimp, clamp, expansion, PEX Press, PEX Compression, and push-fit fittings, most of which require a unique tool. You can use individual manifolds throughout the building that branch off a main line, or you can use a "home-run" style manifold (such as the MANABLOC from Viega) where an individual line runs all the way to each fixture. The most common setup is to have a 3/4" main line, with 1/2" lines to fixtures.
