Test your chamfer by using the “Test Gauge” on your chamfer tool. The
test gauge approximates the o-ring-embedded insert inside each ConStab
fitting. Test your chamfer by pushing the pipe over the test gauge.
If the pipe is chamferred properly, it should fit over the test gauge with
minimum effort.

Needed for correct install!
Purchased this tool to create the proper chamfer for the ID of the PE gas piping. The design of the Con-Stab fittings utilize an internal seal (double o-ring) that complete the seal process. There is no way to view the o-rings once the pipe is inserted, therefore, if you do not create the proper lead-in chamfer, (this chamfer angle is about < =30 degrees, and 1/4" deep!), you risk damaging the o-rings which may develop into a leaking connection at the joint. My only negative comment (4 stars) would be that this tool does not cut the O.D. chamfer on the pipe, which I thought it was supposed to? . . . had to do that detail with another cutter.

Expensive mistake
Using any other champdering tool on a con stab product might result in a leak. Take it from me it was an expensive mistake.

No leaks what so ever, great product.
Delivered on time. I bought this product to replace another product that I just kept getting leaks no matter what I did. This product is way better, I followed the simple directions and pressurized the gas line and 24 hours later I didn't lose not one ounce.
