Great service

rebuilt the service entrance to my house and saved a ton with these guys. Everything came wrapped individually, packed properly and "as advertised". Best prices I found on the web.

Strainer Retainer Cap Leaked

I bought the LFS777SI 3/4" WYE strainer with a solder connection at each end. Soon after I started using the new strainer, I noticed that the strainer retainer cap had a slight leak. It seemed like with the main water pressure would peak, a few drops of water would leak out leaving a hard water residue on my copper pipe and brass fittings. Finally, one day I had my adjustable wrench in hand and thought, "I'll just tighten it up a bit and see if that stops it." Well, as soon as I tightened the cap 5 degrees, water started spraying out, and when I backed it off it was dripping steadily. So, I had to shut off water to the house, remove the cap and see what was wrong. It looks like there was a thin rubber gasket, maybe too thin for the space to be filled, or too small a diameter. I took it to the local hardware store and found an O-ring the same diameter and some lubricant to allow tightening the cap on the O-ring without stretching or tearing the O-ring. With the new O-ring installed, the retainer cap is bone-dry. If I could do it, why couldn't Watts?!?!?!

needed one of these years ago

had a piece of solder come through my system, after a piping change, that locked up my circulator pump. luckily caught it before it smoked the pump. this will prevent this from happening again.

FYI

If you're looking to install a valve in place of the plug, the thread size is 1/4. Neither product overview nor description mention that.
