GV90+5 113,000 BTU High Efficiency Gas Boiler (Nat Gas & LP)

I has failed every heating season since I had iit installed 6 years ago. The blower motor failed 3 times, the system leaked a month after installation; the flame cone failed; it has been non-stop failures ever since I bought it. It is a very complex and finicky system.

Had a GV90+ installed few years ago, replacing three, 80's-era Teledyne stack vent boilers. One unit easily heats a 4 apt building with 3 zones and a 4th for domestic HW in a storage tank. The direct venting prevents basement from pulling in cold, outside air for combustion so even the basement is more comfortable, for free. Unit is quiet enough that it could go in a closet in a living room if it had to. The SS side-saddle heat exchanger that captures and transfers exhaust gas heat to incoming return water is a simple and zero maintenance feature that gets as much heat out of the fuel as possible. Delighted with this product.

GV90+5 Let me tell you I had a Weil Mclain 4 section boiler oil burner for the 23 years I have lived here, Changed the old burner to a AFG and thought it was a awesome burner worked great. Now I have the GV90+5 and let me tell you this boiler is GREAT. I only wish I had switched years ago it is very quiet and within 45 mins my house is warm vs 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you have Nat gas in your area you should switch and you will be happy and save A LOT of money vs oil.

I picked this boiler over a condensing wall mount unit because I don't trust those yet for reliability. This boiler arrived in good condition and was easy to install. It does need a condensate pump (extra purchase) otherwise the condensing water runs on the floor.

Purchased and installed (by myself) this boiler. Quite an easy process. Upon startup noticed strong gas odor. Soaped all joints but could not find leak ( smell only when boiler was running). Called gas company and they determined leak was from blower housing. Cover is sealed with silicone and there is apparantly a void in the seal. Weil McLain refuses any warranty because I am not a licensed plumber even though the issue was not involved in the installation. Supply House had me call a licensed plumber to diagnose (again) and are now supplying me a new blower assy. No stock, 2 weeks out. I have put some silicone sealant over the leak as a band aid. I just hope this is not a sign of other bad things to come. I would recommed (with caution) others to buy this product.

It's very easy to install, and does an excellent job heating our 1913 3300 square foot house.

My criteria for a.new boiler were, made in the USA, cast iron, 90+% efficiency rating. I also was very concerned with complexity of operation. This unit met all expectation ,was easy to set up and has been flawless in use. I expect many years of quiet, efficient heat and hot water. Weil McLain has created a winner.

Cast iron with stainless secondary. Minimal maintenance expected.Shipped & delivered well. At 400 plus gravity is your friend if basement location. 1200 cap hand truck wheeled it to hatchway, pulleys lowered the load to get it over the lip & easy peazy slide down planks with 1 helper. Good documentation. Home owner installation, which would be me.

I finally got my Weil McLain GV90+5 high efficiency propane boiler installed on 6/1/13 after prompt delivery PexSupply 2 months ago. They are an excellent company to deal with. Delivery was smooth and the burner was shipped directly from the manufacturer. Gone is the smell of oil and here is a more efficient way to heat with less cost. The boiler fired up and ran quietly heating my hot water in a short amount of time. We are now in the midst of 90 degree weather; so I have not had the heat on , but during testing the house heated up quickly. A good value for 90+ efficiency rating. My Weil McLain oil furnace served this house well for 35+ years and I am looking forward to a cleaner heat from the same company.
