3/4" Sweat Zone Valve (Three Wire)

Very high flow capacity, comparable to full flow ball valve when opening. Valve cylinder with attached control head mount easily to valve body. No power consumed by valve when it is either in on or off position. Very easy to operate the valve manually by rotating the disk which protrudes out either side of control head. Red coloring shows on disk on both sides when valve is opened. Instructions note that valve is not a tight shutoff when closed, that is there is some small leakage which is quantified in the instructions. Advises to not use this valve if a leak tight shut off is required. I did not notice this when I bought the valve, but it did not affect my application. Valve requires a single pole double throw thermostat switch to operate. I got around this by connecting my standard thermostat thru one pole of a DPDT 24 vac coil relay. Connections on valve are well marked and easy to attach wires either to screws or male spade connectors located behind each screw. Care needs to be taken when soldering tubing to valve body. Of course the valve body and controller have to be removed as well stated by instructions, but putting too much solder in the joint "to make sure" may result in dripping of solder into the control port area which needs to be removed if this happens. It's not too easy to remove, better to not let it get in there in the first place. All in all, a great, well thought out, smooth running valve!

First of all, I want to make it clear the service is great from SupplyHouse. Fast delivery and great customer service resolving my problem with the valve. As for the zone valve, I have ordered two of these valves in the last year. One as a replacement and one to have on hand as a spare. Both valves have come from the factory assembled incorrectly with the actual valve 90 degrees off. This means...when the valve is rotated by the zone to the "on" position where you can see the red marks, it actually blocks the flow of water. If you ever order a valve like this, you better check it before installing it as it cost me a lot of time and money trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. The zone control works fine, but the valve may be wrong from the factory.
