Great Thermostat for Steam Heating Systems
Excellent choice for steam heating system because of the adjustable anticipator. Adjust the anticipator to provide a boiler run between 20-minutes to 35-minutes so that all radiators fully heat. The usual recommendation is to set the anticipator to the current draw of the gas valve (about 0.45 ma) + 0.1 ma.
However you will probably find this gives a short boiler run of 10-minutes at 2-cycles per hour because most thermostats are designed to provide multiple cycles per hour. Merely adjust the anticipator to about 0.7 to 0.8 ma and experiment till the boiler run is sufficient to avoid a short run which is not proper for steam heating with heavy cast iron radiators that take a long time to warm.
The anticipator setting is very sensitive to small changes in the current setting so let the heating system stabilize at least 2 cycles before changing the anticipator setting. Make only small adjustments each time and record the time ON and OFF.

Part is defective
the screws of the operating part of the Thermostat did not line up with the wall plate that came with it. One screw could not make contact. Perplexed on way that error occurred in the manufacturing of the part. It cost me money after I couldn't install it to have a certified HVAC tech come out and he couldn't use the part either. I put the old back on and will attempt to return the item for a full refund

I'm happy to have found a replacement for my mercery switch not that i have anything against mercery switches but , this dinosaur needed a replacement and mercery is apparently a thing of the past so this is a smooth transition

I will not buy this product again.
Had my heater totally rebuilt inside at a cost of $450 and installed a new controller but having problem getting more than ONE season from this controller.
Works perfect for one season but will NOT work the following season. ???
I have to replace unit every year, replaced three times already.?

Exact Replacement
Had a White-Rogers mercury bulb heat only thermostat that failed after years of service. The new White-Rogers thermostat has no mercury & was replaceable in less than 5 minutes. The new one also has heat anticipator settings which the old one did not have. Great if your furnace is cycling too much or not enough. Only downside is that it's made in china.

White Rodgers single stage thermostats
I was happy with the service I got from the Supply House site. I was happy with the merchandice, single stage thermostats my clients are happy as well. It was not the cheapest stat that I could of bought but it was the one that I needed to sufficiently cover the existing hole in the wall.

In reference to the 1E30N-910 being compatible with the 1E30-609. The "609" is a millivolt system thermostat and the "910" is a low voltage (24vac) system thermostat. Generally these types are not compatible. However, as per the "910" instructions, the "910" will work in millivolt systems by moving the anticipator to a dedicated millivolt link. We use the low voltage systems and have not tried this but according to White-Rodgers it is supposed to work.
