Making heating system modern

Old system did not let me know status of valves or t-stats. As well old control heads did not close valves off completely. New control heads and four zone Control module now have heating system working properly.

works well

actuators work great, just might have to use your original adapter rings if you are purchasing these units to replace original equipment

Thermal Actuator

Piece O Cake... I have a system about 20years old and the original Actuators screw on which can sometimes be a pain because of space restrictions... Connect 2 wires and just snap on the new one and ready to go.... The only thing i can not comment on is some of my manifolds are mounted so the install is upside down.. Let's see how long they last that way..

Q: I have a Rifeng manifold - would these actuators work well with the manifold. I would like to use them because the zone controller is Uponor. Thanks!

Only the two-wire MA-ACT and the four-wire MP700 actuators are compatible with Rifeng manifolds.

Q: Can you tell me how many of these can be operated off of one output from a A3030003 3 zone controller? I need to operate as many as 4 loops off of 1 thermostat. I am concerned about the load on the zone controller required to do so and I haven't been able to find any ratings for the A3030003 or this actuator. Thanks.

The actuator (A3020416) will use 5 VA each. For the control part of your question, here is the spec sheet: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1290099706466/41792_PROD_FILE.pdf The amount of actuators will change based on the fuse and transformer size.

I operate 4 zones from one thermostat. Also operate two, two zones and one three zone from the same controller box. My system has a total of four thermostats.

Q: 2 wire vrs 4 wire - what's teh real difference?

The two wire units were popular before the four wire units came out. They are wired directly to the thermostat. The four wire is the most commonly used now and has 2 wires for power and 2 wires to connect to the thermostat and an end switch.

Q: Does this actuator (A3020416) require a separate adaptor to mount to a TruFLOW Jr. Manifold? I realize the description says it mounts directly, but the reason I ask is that the my actuators (all of which are mounted directly to the manifold) do not seem to fit properly. The size and thread pitch of the plastic mounting ring is the correct, but if it is threaded completely down until it is snug against the manifold the actuator will not snap into place. The valve stem height (in the closed postion) looks to be approximately 6mm too tall. In order to get the actuator mounted, I have to back-off the mounting ring off until there is only a little more than one thread engaged. Even then, there is a lot of tension on the snap-on connection. I have had a reoccurring problem with these actuators popping off the manifold because they are so tight. The contractor who installed the system thinks that this is the way they are supposed to be mounted. It just does not seem right to me.

No, the SKU: A3020416 actuator mounts directly onto the manifold and does not require separate adapters to mount. From the problem you are describing it sounds like you are missing the brass adapters that would have came with the TruFLOW Jr. Manifold (SKU: A2630028). These adapters are going to allow you to thread right onto the manifold without any of the actuators "popping" off.

Q: Do these work with A3601012 C-55 Uponor Base unit? Uponor catalog suggests the use of A3030523.

This unit does not state it is compatible with the Climate Control zoning base, so it should not be used with that product. It is only listed as compatible with the TruFLOW manifolds.
