I tried a different brand of t-stat that didn't operate the valves on my furnace correctly. The valves I have are manufactured by White Rodgers and the Honeywell programmable didn't work correctly. So I installed these two weeks ago on two zones (each with a separate valve) and haven't had a problem. Most of the heating contractors I spoke with didn't think there should be any difference in operation between brands, but this model worked for me.

I changed from an old W-R mercury thermostat to this Series 80. The thermostat itself is a 5-star" but the instructions are not the best and the phone technical-support is terrible. I tried to contact tech support and I was on hold for 75 minutes, tortured by the most awful Kenny-G type music and a constantly repeated massage to "be patient" so I finally hung up without talking to a technician. Note: After emailing a complaint, they got back to me two days later.

I finally figured out the schematic and then called tech support again to confirm my conclusions. The person was good, but the wait again was long, maybe 20 minutes.

If you are experienced, I recommend it. If you have no electrical experience and are going need phone help, think it over.

This is a good thermostat.

By Russ

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

I like this thermostat because it always shows the
set temp. + the actual temp. of the room. Other
thermostats only show one. This thermostat is not
difficult to set, and change when you want.

This thermostat that I just bought seems to over shoot the set temp. I never had this problem before. I have used White Rodgers thermostats for
years and had real good luck.

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

Every few days, the temp reading does not meet the temp set. in fact it can be 6-8 degrees difference. i don't understand . I recheck settings (in Heat and in Cool) they are correct. i then hit 'run' and it seems to go back working for a few days until it happens again. i haven't had time to call to see if my unit is defective.

an easy to program and use thermostat

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

The application is in a church building that has limited use in some areas during the course of the week and most evenings. The thermostats were easy to install, program and operate. Adjusting the thermostats was intuitive for users of the facility and don't require an undertanding of the program. Our church has installed 5 thermostats thus far -no negative comments.

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

This is a replacement for my old White Rogers thermostat. Although the product is made in China it functions very well. Made sure that the wire hook up is the same. A little difficult to wire since all the wire connections are very close together and I had to use a small screw driver for eye glass frames. Programming like the old one so it is a good fix for my needs. Recommend

lots of features for decent price

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

This T'stat has some good features for a fairly decent price. One I like the best is the setback feature. T'stat uses comfort level theory to setback setpoint temperature when unit runs for a long period of time. As the unit runs it reduces humidity, at lower humidity levels comfortable temperatures can be found at high temperatures. This setting is completly adjustable up to 7 degrees. I would use this product again if I had the chance.

    How to reset all programs
    Asked on 6/28/2012 by monty

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

You can reset the programing (default settings) by first going to the
      menu mode.
It will say menu and where the FAN button is located, it will say "Run".
Press the Up arrow, the Down arrow, and the Fan button (Run)
simultaneously until all the LCD displays are visible.
You have just reset the programming.
The instructions left out the part about being in the menu mode.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can reset the thermostat by removing the wires from terminals R and C (do not short them together) and removing batteries for 2 minutes. After resetting the thermostat, replace the wires and batteries. To reset the programming, clock and configuration settings, press the up and down buttons and the FAN button simultaneously. The thermostat should go blank and then all segments will be displayed momentarily. You can find all of this information in the Installation Manual under the Manuals tab on the product page at our website.

      A:

White Rodgers recommends 1F97-1277 as the replacement, but 1F80-0471 is a also a single-stage, 2-wire thermostat. We see no reason why it wouldn't also work.

I'm looking to replace my current White-Rodgers IF80-261. I've been told that this model (IF80-0471) is compatable or transferrable with the current hard wires for installation. Is this true? Please advise.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

1F80-0471 is the manufacturer's suggested replacement for 1F80-261. The wiring should be similar, but we could not say for sure whether it's exactly the same.

Would this go with an automag zone valve system that is 3 wire for a oil boiler hot water heating system?
Asked on 9/13/2011 by Engineer from Johnstown, Pa

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The thermostat would not be wired directly to the zone valves. You would need to wire it to a zone valve controller.
