Would buy again if needed. It corrected my systems problem.

This RX-30 radiant Extrol expansion tank was a simple, quick install. Within 48 hours it equalized / adjusted to my closed loop, radiant heat system, and is keeping the system running smoothly, at the correct pressure, and temperature levels.

One little tank

Old Amtrol tank only lasted a few years, so far this guy has done the job. I'm impressed and will purchase again.

Hoping for continued excellent results

Using this tank in a hot water heating system with infloor radiant heat. Last Amtrol tank lasted 15+ years. Another brand replacement tank lasted less than 6 months, so I'm back with Amtrol. hope to see it last another 15 years.

Appears to be a excellent product

Used in a radiant system which is protected with Ethylene Glycol antifreeze. Standard expansion tanks only last 12 to 18 months

The only way to go to fight Oxygen!!

Look, when you have a NON-BARRIER tubeing system it's ok. You just have a high oxygen content. You MUST USE All and I mean ALL non ferrous componets. This is the golden rule. The RX Radiant Extrol Expansion Tank by Amtrol is designed to protect you from oxygen. Don't forget it.

Q: If this unit works well on radiant heat systems, is there any reason that it will not work on a baseboard radiation system?

In general, no reason it won't work. There are two key items to pay attention to; maximum temperature and system volume. The maximum temperature rating for this tank is 200 deg F, which is likely fine if your baseboards are hot water. If they are steam then this is not the correct unit (not just based on temperature). Sizing of the expansion tank depends on the volume of your system, baseboards are probably lower in volume than most radiant systems, but that will depend on the exact system. The PEX Supply site actually has a handy calculator here: http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/ExpansionTankSizeCalculator that will tell you the size tank required based on your boiler size. If you enter baseboard as the heat type it will probably assume steam, and point your towards a higher temperature rated unit. You can either just go with the unit it points you too, or, use the size of that unit to find another brand/style that fits your needs.
