Had trouble with o-rings and Pex-Al-Pex
These work great, but they can be a bit hard to install without first chamfering the inside of the pex pipe. If you try to shove them in past a sharp 90 degree edge on the inner diameter of the pipe, the o-ring will catch in one or more spots pinching it, pulling it out of it's groove, and causing a leak. It's fine if you chamfer first, but then you have to blow out your pex line in case any shavings fell inside. Not sure if this would be an issue with regular (non-aluminum lined) pex or not? Other than that, they worked great with no leaks. Luckily I had a way to chamfer them using a metal deburring/chamfering tool, but a woodworking countersinking tool would also have worked. If you don't have one of those you might want to order a PEX-al-PEX Chamfering Tool just to be safe (sold here on the site).

This is a well made product. My personal preference for using connectors with manifolds is to use Mr. Pex EK20 fittings with Mr. Pex products and Rifeng EK20s with Rifeng products, and so on.

Q: Do these fittings replace the need for PEX-AL-PEX fittings when connecting the pipe to the manifold? Or does it require an additional fitting to connect the PEX-AL-PEX tube to this fitting?

These are adaptors that will work to secure any 1/2" pex-al-pex tubing to any manifold output threaded with 1/2" EK-20 threads. Reifing uses R-20, and so does wirsbo tru-flo. What I can't find a reference to is whether EK-20 & R-20 are the same. Will someone at Pexsupply be willing to try to fit one of these EK-20 nuts onto the output threads of a wirsbo manifold to answer this question? Alternatively, you can call Wirsbo directly and ask their tech support if the threads match. Also, make sure wirsbo manifolds will accept anything other than wirsbo tubing. At one time it seems to me they made a proprietary tubing Randy Danziger

EK20 is a European standard connector. Not sure of the connector specs on a Tru-Flow.
