You need a fair amount of force to depress the tool Jaws and the sleeve.

good For installed fittings
I could not get it to work for taking apart a bench assembly. Just kept slipping off. I was going to return it, I had to use the "C" shaped plastic horseshoe device to take that trial assembly apart. However for fittings that were already installed in a line and had a good firm position, It popped them right open. It will hang on my tool rack till the next time it is needed

It worked OK
I remodeled my kitchen and needed to remove several 1/2'' 20 year old couplings on PEX/CPVC pipes. My grip is much stronger than most, but I had to use channel lock pliers on the tool to get them to disengage.
