Al-Si heat exchanger
Each unit features an ASME approved Al-Si heat exchanger constructed of advanced Magnesium-Aluminum-Silicon alloy - offering increased flexibility versus traditional stainless steel. They are equipped with highly durable heating blocks that are corrosion resistant and designed to optimize clean burning combustion over an extra large surface area, which requires minimal servicing and reliance on spare parts during the boiler's lifetime.
Plated stainless steel heat exchanger
All Greenstar Combi boilers are equipped with a high-strength stainless steel secondary exchanger and burner with double passage - ensuring consistent temperature output based on demand. The DHW hot water temperature control limit of 140°F helps prevent scale build-up within the heat exchanger.
Full modulating fan assembly
A full modulating fan automatically increases or decreases its speed according to the amount of gas coming into the boiler depending on the heat demand. This process, called modulation, prevents the boiler from either having too little or too much air in the unit for optimal combustion - ensuring high efficiency.

Made in Germany and it works wonderfully !!!
Replaced my old Weil Mclain VHE-5 That I installed 35 years ago. I wanted something more efficient than 80% that provided a decent amount of hot water to. Bought everything from SupplyHouse except for locally sourced pipe and fittings. I watched a lot of videos on Youtube about doing this right. Bought a Testo 310 with printer for stack testing and a UEI 152 digital pressure meter for gas. I know that's a total of about $850 but you have to have the tools if you want to do it yourself and maintain it. The stack test came in .1 out of spec for O2 and C02. That's amazing after my propane conversion. Everything works perfectly with no leaks. The stack test shows an efficiency of 93.2 at high fire. If you are going to buy a high efficiency combi this is the one. Yeah it cost about $3600 but its not made in Korea or China and parts ARE AVAILABLE. Warranty is killer. 5 years on parts and labor.15 years parts on exchanger. NO REGRETS !

Utter Junk and Terrible Customer Service
We've had this unit installed as our primary hot water/boiler for less than two years and it has been an unmitigated disaster. The unit has malfunctioned consistently since installation and had multiple parts replaced, including the circulator pump and heat exchanger. The fixes work for a few months, but the unit inevitably fails again, and Bosch Customer Support is worse than useless. They insist that they don't provide refunds and that a technician be available to troubleshoot the unit over the phone before they will initiate any repairs under the warranty.
The unit can't regulate temperature consistently, so after several months, the thermostat will inexplicably spike to a reading of 199, which disables the burner. The circulator pump triggers, but the reading will hold fast at 199 for 4-5 minutes before it slowly starts to drop. All that time there is nothing but cold water running at the taps. Once the burner does kick back on, it takes a few seconds before it triggers the safety shutoff, and there is not enough burner time to make the tap water even lukewarm.
I will never buy another Bosch product again, as they are too temperamental and Bosch doesn't stand behind their equipment. They should have had a technician out here already or offered me a refund so I can buy something that works.

We regularly purchase and install these.
Most negative feedback I've seen comes from people who are not installers. This product is not meant to be installed by someone with only basic HVAC knowledge. Every one of these, as is true with all high efficiency equipment, need to be properly tuned after installation. This requires a combustion analyzer. Most homeowners and many installers do not have this equipment. Faults in installation are neither the equipment's nor the manufacturer's fault. A Bosch Certified Installer will not have the warranty difficulties faced by a do it yourselfer with the added benefit of automatically getting an extended warranty when installed by them. We also have much easier access to parts should the need arise. Also, boiler manufacturers these days provide limited or no labor as part of warranty. It's just a sad fact of life. Bosch will provide some labor reimbursement in the first year. We have hundreds of these in the field and have almost no trouble to date. They have also been quick to help when we've needed it.

Dangerous and terrible service
I don't want this terrible review to reflect badly on Supplyhouse.com they are an amazingly good company, it is this product that is the issue. As stated in some other reviews the warrantee service for Bosch boilers is awful. They require you hire, at your cost a technician to watch them fix any warrantee issues. I own 6 of these terrible contraptions. After running for two days one had an explosion inside that separated the silencer (exhaust part inside the boiler) it dumped CO into the house and set off the CO alarms. This was just two hours after the gas company had inspected it and two other technicians before that. I called Bosch they told me to hire a technician again to come out and watch them fix it when they can come out in a week. This is insane, if a customer calls up and says they have no heat and the new boiler you bought from them is causing a life safety issue shouldn't there be someone headed your way ASAP? I am an engineer and if one of my products has a safety issues I am on a plane that day. In summary if you don't care about a warranty, not having heat for a while, and are not worried about killing your family this is the boiler for you. If you still intending to buy this or are unfortunate enough to already own one make sure your CO detector is working properly. And yes, all Greenstar boilers (wall and floor models) have identical combustion components (look at the parts diagrams).

I would never buy this product again and not recommend to I
The ZBR 42-3 two years old had to replace the circuitboard and the fan motor. Grant you it was still under warranty but technical support was the worst would not help me unless I had all the equipment for testing. I also needed to pay overnight shipping because that company is located in Germany so if you have no heat and you live in a very cold climate expect to wait for your parts. Worst technical support people I have ever dealt with and I installed many other brands.

Great Product (German Emgineering)
Nice space saver, get`s rid of your central heater & boiler (water heater), very quiet, doesn`t need an expansion tank (has one inside). Doesn't`t dry the air like forced air does, don`t need to replace expensive air filters. Never run`s out of water :)
It would sell a lot better if it wasn`t so expensive, they are a lot cheaper in Europe but with all taxes & shipping it`s not worth it, hopefully a lot more people & government will see the efficiency "green" aspect of it & wave taxes &/or sponsor half of the price so more have access to it :(
