Brass body with two spring loaded poppet-type valve modules and threaded female union inlet and outlet connections. Internal strainer screen, and stainless steel springs. Suitable for hot (up to 180°F [82°C]) or cold water under continuous pressure.
Prevents backflow of contaminated water into potable water supply lines. Ideal for boiler feed lines, dairy processing systems, livestock water sources, chlorinators, trap primers and similar installations.

I would try a different brand next time.
I purchased this backflow preventer because it is an exact replacement for one that kept dripping from the relief port. The leaking one was purchased elsewhere and rode around in my service truck for about a year prior to installation. The Supply House one has not leaked in the 3 weeks since installation. I am "snake bit" on this specific valve because it is the 2nd time one leaked.
