I recently bought about $300 in Bluefin NPT brass fittings to supply a tankless water heater. For the last three weeks, I have started every day by finding a leak and taking the supply assembly off, tightening fittings to the point of breaking, and still they leak. I used TFE paste to lubricate and seal the joints. Every one eventually failed. Finally I found something that worked: anaerobic threadsealant. I took the entire assembly apart, cleaned off the tfe with acetone and applied the anaerobic threadsealant. Four days in, not a drop. When I took the assembly apart, I looked at the Bluefin fittings with a more critical eye and found that most of the parts I received had flaws in the threads: nicks, dings, etc. If you're considering saving some money by buying Bluefin fittings, consider the added expense of a bottle of Permabond LH050. Or you'll spend the rest of your life chasing leaks.

Off My Buy Again List
Installed this drain valve and for two years all was fine until yesterday when it began to leak at the threaded high pressure end. Thinking the tape and thread seal was bad, I retaped and sealed which continued to leak. I replaced it with a Watts valve, and all is back to no leaks.

Garbage
The drains are made with very low quality brass. I put one in and 3 months later I got a call that it was leaking. When I arrived I saw the drain was spaying from the seams. As I took the drain out it completely split in half. Would not recommended

Brass no lead boiler drains (40)
Haven't used yet as they are for an upcoming project. Seem like great quality for half the price of the Orange or Blue Big Box stores. Supply House had a large selection with large quantities available. Supply House is convenient and ships quick. Thanks

Adequate
Blue fin products have been adequate in my past experience and seem more available from Supply House
Apollo and Nibco seem of better quality but cost more.
They all degrade from age and poor water quality so get what's available and in your budget.

Washing machine valve
I use these for washing machine replacement valves. They are lead free and a great fit.
Q: Can this valve be used for gas? was going to use it on 55 gallon drum of gas.
