LAST, DURABLE.

I have an older home built in the 1920s. It was piped with 4" Cast Iron XH pipe for all the drains. One branch drain line from a first floor bathroom developed major cracks, and needed to be cut out and replaced with plastic immediately. Since I needed a clean cut, to add a shielded no-hub coupling; I wasn't sure which option to use initially. You basically have 3 options cutting heavy pipe: ratched soil pipe cutter, sawzall, or angle grinder. I felt the angle grinder was too dangerous for 4" pipe, and makes a ton of sparks. The soil pipe cutter I was concerned with may 'damage' the pipe while cracking it, so I opted for the sawzall. I have an older corded Porter Cable sawzall, and combined with these 9" blades cut the 4" Cast Iron XH pipe with ease. Even though the description says 3 pk, it actually comes with 4 blades. I made about 5-6 cuts rotating 3 different blades, I still have 1 unused. I also used it to cut the 1.5" and 2" galvanized vent and air drains multiple times. I'd highly recommend these blades for cutting metal piping. I've researched them, and most professionals prefer this particular blade for this exact application. Well worth the money, and I'm very happy I went this route as opposed to the angle grinder or renting a soil pipe cutter.
