Kool Guard Intelligent Voltage Monitor with Surge Protection (120/240V)

This is a voltage monitor and surge protector for my residential HVAC system, specifically the very expensive, computer controlled blower motor, whose lifespan can be seriously shortened by power fluctuations and needed to be replaced. There are cheaper units manufactured by DITEK that are simple surge protectors that will block a massive event, 50,000 amps, resulting from a large event affecting the power supply. These are one-time sacrificial units, like a fuse, and must be replaced if they are subjected to the surge. But, they come with an attractive three year warranty guaranteeing up to $7500 to replace HVAC components if the surge protector doesn't do its job. But, I picked the KoolGuard unit because it protects against smaller fluctuations on voltage, and appears to be able to withstand more than one catastrophic surge, more like a circuit breaker than a fuse. But, it doesn't come with the equipment protection warranty. This is a long explanation and I spent several hours online with Supply House customer service trying to sort out the pro and con of buying this unit vs the others. The customer service agent was diligent and helpful. The KoolGuard was easily installed by the professional repair tech, my HVAC is back up and running. Like any protective device, I won't know if it works until there is a surge event or power fluctuation, but the nice thing is, it will let me know if and when that protection was necessary.

I have the Kook Guard installed, however, there have been no power surges or sags since installing it. Install went fine with no issues. Good clean instructions make the install easy.
