DiversiTech Condensation Overflow Safety Switch is designed for use on 3/4" PVC condensate drain
line. Features include:
Snaps easily over existing drain line tubing & can be glued in place using PVC cement if desired
SOS works by electronically sensing water near the inside wall of the PVC drain tubing
By locating the SOS with its body away from the normal flow, it can be used to detect a possible overflow condition when the PVC drain line becomes full with water
Like a culvert, condensate drain line is normally close to empty with a small amount of water flowing
in the lower parts of the horizontal run
A low volume of flowing water doesn't activate the switch since the sensor component of the SOS only covers part of the tubing
The pipe must be full/near full to activate the switch
Can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or at any angle
Works with 24 VAC control circuits and typical contactors
When not detecting water, the SOS is normally closed and allows normal air conditioner operation (**When water approaches the SOS's sensor, the switch triggers, and the control circuit is opened**)
LED indicator to indicate system trouble
Furnished complete with switch
Available with Push to Test button
18 AWG
2 wire lead
3/4" PVC male fitting
Adaptor for direct coupling to a primary pan drain line connection
This product is advertised on many websites at similar prices. The product has been updated with a test button and all websites show the photo of the updated one. However - beware - some websites show the newer product photo but the actual one sold is the older one. I validated via e-mail correspondence with Supply House that their product was the updated model. They were quick to respond and both pleasant and efficient to communicate with. I purchased through them and everything was processed and the product was delivered as promised. I look forward to doing business with them again.
Q: The older models of the Diversitec SOS-1 did not have the "push to test" button. Does this one have it (as shown in the illustration)?

Yes, it does, you can test by pressing the Push To Test button on the top. The compressor will shut off and yellow lights on SOS Switch will illuminate.
