Wax is still the best!
The double-thick wax is best for a toilet up to a 1/4" below the floor and regardless wax is still better than non-wax seals in that it is truly universal with most any toilet any flange. If the flange is above the floor, I like single-thick wax better. The horn is kind of a preference that I do not care for, but it can help keep the wax out of the way of the path of the water.
