Definitely works but a few issues

I installed the SCALA2 pump on a low-pressure city water system. The results were immediate, with the pressure increasing from 34 to 62, and could probably be increased a bit more. The pump does run every time a faucet is opened, but this could be because the incoming pressure is so low. For installation, I added Sharkbite pressure gauges for both incoming and outgoing lines, as well bypass ball valves. I used a couple of Sharkbite water softener flexible lines to join the pump to my pex, and this made the hookup super easy. They were definitely worth the extra money. I have encountered a couple of issues, although neither seem to affect the performance of the pump. When it cycles on, there is a fairly loud bang noise. I called Grundfos tech support, and they told me that the noise is coming from the self-priming valve, and it is a known manufacturing issue. A service kit is due to be released that will correct the problem, but it will not be something that users can repair. Another issue I have is when I run one of my showers the leak indication light comes on. All of the piping is new, and there do not appear to be any leaks, and the manual said it could also be the non-return valve. I have not shut down the pump to investigate this yet, as the error light goes off after a few hours. And there certainly has not be any issues with the pressure. All in all, I am pleased with this pump, and will be even more pleased if the issues mentioned can be corrected with a minimal amount of pain.

Doesn't come with flexible connector pipes

The nstructions say to connect to the water lines to the pump using the flexible connector pipes as pictured in the install manual. However it does not include these pipes with the pump.. none of my local plumbing stores carried these in 1". Due to how short the distance is between the intake and exit port on the pump, a regular ball valve will not fit in the space between (as needed to setup a correct bypass) without the flexi pipes unless you use two additional 90-degree connectors to give yourself more space. If the pipesare pictured in the install manual they should be included.

Repurchasing only due to uncertainty about a new product

I have had two of these for a home application, where we live on top of a hill and pump the water up from the street. There is some pressure from the city, but it is really low for things like a shower. After about 12 months, both units started to leak and at around 24 months, they go from an acceptable noise level to extremely loud. We replaced the gaskets and covers on both, again, leaking a bit (manageable but had to add a pan and drainage line) but just NOISY.

Supply House Service Great . . . This product is not!

We are on our third pump in a two year period due to leaks. I would not recommend the product BUT Supply House was extremely responsive and got us replacements immediately.

Terrific customer service.

Supply house was able to give us exactly what we needed in a very timely manner. Their order process was so streamline and Customer service was just top-notch. Even though we ordered the wrong model the first time Supply house easily made our exchange and got us the right pump. We needed in record time. Thank you so much.

not reliable product

have replaced this model 4 or 5 times in 6 yrs due to leaks. only lasts 1-2 yrs maximm. the only reason for a 2 star instead of 1 star is that it is exceptionally quiet.

This is my third pump.

The first pump lasted 2 yrs (started tripping the breaker) and second pump lasted 4 yrs (started leaking). They work great and are very quiet running. They are expensive and I wish they would last longer. I still think they are the best booster pump made overall. I will continue to use them until I find something better.

Great all in one pressure booster

I have purchased 2 of these in the past year for different customers which are very pleased with their performance. Great product which needs no external tank or pressure switch. Only needed the 2 flex connectors they recommended and connected up really well. I recommend and use pressure gauges in helping to set and monitor performance. Great company to do business with

Great little pump.

I would give this 5 stars, but my pump started leaking about 6 months after installation. However the customer service provided by SupplyHouse is second to none.

yes

So, I'm under no illusion that this is the best booster ever because of the reviews. I'm fully prepared to do preventive maintenance every year to keep this going. The positive - it is certainly an all-in-one package (no need for pressure tank, check valve, etc). It gives me more than enough pressure. My well gives me 40 to 60 psi (mainly 40), so I just wanted something to keep me at 60 (4 bars). OH MY GOSH THIS DOES IT!! We run two washers and three showers at one time with constant 60 psi at all locations. Total game changer! One of the showers is even upstairs. The negative - It does make a popping sound sometimes when it is monitoring the pressure. I'm a mechanical engineer by trade. This will not last that long. I'm not certain if its the check valve or internal shuttle valve making noise, but it's pretty concerning. I'm keeping the pressure low, the pump is indoors, and I mounted it with rubber foundation to absorb vibration. I'm trying to give this bad boy the best chance of survival. All that being said, I'm hooked. If this goes down, I'm repairing it as soon as possible.

According to page 3 of the user guide it appears this unit is better suited to be connect directly to the fixtures http://s3.supplyhouse.com/product_files/Grundfos-98562818-User-Guide.pdf
