PTFE MEGATAPE, 1/2" x 1000" (Grey)

Worked with a couple of problematic fittings with domestic water. Couldn't get it done with T plus 2 and/or white tape. Instructions say minumim 4 wraps, took 6 to do 1" NPT.

This is great, thick, high-quality teflon tape. I was reminded by a mechanic recently that such is NOT the best for sealing threads. It is primarily a lubricant and not technically a sealant. Pipe dope, like Rector Seal is better for permanent joints hence my four instead of five stars.

Been using this for over a year. I combine this with TruBlu most of the time. But have used it as a stand alone and it has preformed well. Works great on gas when mating steel with brass. Looks better on the shower head to shower arm connection than white or blue.

This is good stuff and there's plenty of it for a decent price. I learned something this week after using this on some ss reducing bushings and nipples on a buffer tank for a hydronic system. First coat your fitting with something like Rector Seal #5, then wrap it with this, then again coat the tape with Rector Seal. Finally coat the mating thread and you won't have leaks. Omit the first application to the fitting and you might have issues. I did and had to drain 40 gallons of water glycol mixture and capture it in clean trash cans for re-use. These were stainless 1-1/2 and 1-1/4" fittings and tightening did not fix the initial leaks. Teflon tape does not seal! It is a thread lubricant. Unless threads are perfectly cut and match, or you don't do the above, you are at risk of even low pressure leaks.

I do not use for plumbing, but I use massive amounts of tape. I used to use the white stuff but this grey megatape is the bomb and works to perfection for my craftwork.

I go through a lot of PTFE tape, so a 1000' roll is far better for me than the 200' (+/-) rolls I get at the orange store. 4x as much for same price. I am happy with it!

Best thread sealant tape I've ever used.

Great tape, doesn't tear like flimsier tape. I've never had a sealing issue.
