Description

Non-toxic, odorless steam boiler cleaner contains fast-acting Trisodium Phosphate, TSP. Stops priming, surging in minutes. Removes rust, scale, oil, foam and impurities without draining or flushing system. Cleans pressure vessels, steam kettles, heat exchangers, steam generators and tanks. Safe to use on food service, process equipment and other sensitive, critical applications. When used on a regular basis, scout provides clean, dry steam along with improved boiler efficiency, fuel economy and heat transfer. Will not harm rubber or plastic components. Contains no petroleum distillates.

Great Product
Used this at a recently purchased 4 unit rental property. Previous owner did absolutely no maintenance on the heating system. I used 2 cans of Scout and after a couple cycles the water was crystal clear. Would def. recommend it. If you are adding it though the relief valve make sure you use a funnel or you will make a mess.

Did the trick...
I used this product for the first time on my 30 year old peerless steam boiler. I don't believe the previous owner ever maintained the system. It literally took 2 full containers of Scout to get the boiler running clean. I put the first in and ran the boiler. The water turned a dark purple. I drained the system, refilled and put the 2nd bottle in. The water color was much improved. I ran for another 24 hours and drained. I know the manufacturer says you don't have to drain the water but I didn't have much choice. The water is now near-clear. I will be sure to use this product every season.

Clean boiler
You save a bundle doing the annual cleaning on your boiler and it's very easy. If you don't know how Google for instructions. Adding the boiler cleaner is simple. Turn off the boiler and allow to cool to the point the water is not boiling. Remove the pop safety valve. Use a funnel to pour in the cleaner. Reinstall the pop safety valve. Turn on the boiler and allow it to operate for a few weeks. Then bleed till clean water runs which will require draining more water than usual. You may have to entirely drain and fill. Enjoy the quieter and more efficient system.
