Simple Installation, Fast Shipping, a Fantastic Purchase!

I was a bit hesitant to buy a damper motor (actuator) and replace it myself. I've always called a plumber and paid hundreds of dollars for them to work their magic to make my central air "work" again. But this time, I took matters into my own hands and found out just how simple it is to replace a damper motor. There were 2 wires (one hot, one ground) and two bolts to tighten with included allen wrench. The connectors were simple - press the button, slip the wire in, let go of the button. Repeat for the other wire. Slide motor into place, tighten bolt. Turn power back on to the control unit. DONE. I saved HUNDREDS of dollars just by doing this by myself. My wife thinks I'm a stud - and our central air is cooling properly again. Best purchase in years!!!

They jam & I'm stuck with them

I'm an HVAC contractor. Honeywell zoning products have generally been good over the years but their zone damper operators are not reliable. The old style operators (before this new M847D-zone design) were failing often, due to drive gear and shaft bearing wear. The internal drive parts wear and gain a side play movement. Once this happens, the internal gears overlap and jam at times. We we're at first happy that Honeywell came out with this newer M847D-Zone operator design....but....after these first few years of operation, we're seeing the same problem. The shaft bearing coming out of the motor wears with side play and the internal motor drive gears start to jam. I hate telling this to our customers. It's another problem product we'll have to live with and it's not likely that Honeywell do anything more than what the printed warranty stats. I don't know at this point, what the warranty is for this damper operator when it is used as a replacement part.

Parts Purchase

I buy for a local heating and air conditioning company. I have bought parts from Supply House many times. Ordering is easy, notifications of my order and shipment are timely and correct and receipt of my order is usually as I expected. I would recommend Supply House to anyone looking to buy materials or parts.

I enjoyed calling Support - they had the answers.

Several Honeywell damper motors were corroded to the point they did not function correctly. They had them in stock and we had them quickly. Thank you Supply House

I like the product

The damper motors appear to be built well built but the life span is somewhat limited. I get about 2 or 3 years out of them and then have to replace. The good news is that they are not too expensive and the bad news is having to deal with the replacement. A local heating and cooling company wanted over $800 to replace one which is laughable when you can buy the part for about $115. I recommend these motors only because they are a low cost DIY job.

Perfect replacement and 5min job to install

After 8 years one of my Honeywell dampers began failing to completely open or close when commanded. Fortunately, replacing it with this product completely solved the problem. The replacement part looks exactly like the old one and attaches and wires identically too. Really glad I bought a spare because another one is sure to fail at the worst possible time.

Q: We have a year old new construction home, and this is the third one of these I've had to replace in the past 2 years. Is there a warranty on these units? Why do they keep dying out on us?

Hi Nick. This motor has a five year warranty. Please contact Honeywell directly for troubleshooting. If deemed to be defective, they can be replaced under warranty.

Q: Hi: I have a Honeywell M847D1004 that makes a constant clicking noise. Upon researching, it appears as though it has been discontinued, and the replacement M847D1012 is in short supply (and expensive). I would like to try this product, but I don't know how to determine if I have a normally open or normally closed damper. Also, are there any modifications that need to be made to my system in order to install this, or is it simply a matter of taking the M847D1004 off and slipping this one back on? Thanks!

The normal position is the position of the damper in its UN powered state.

Q: Currently, I have a Honeywell M847D1012, in which the spring OPENS the vent and appears power CLOSES the vent. I am having difficulty determining if I need this replacement (ZONE) or the VENT model. The replacement calls for each of these, but am confused on Normally Open vs Normally Closed. Thank you.

The "Normal" position is when the unit is not powered. You would need the ZONE model.

Q: Does it still have the two wires as the M847D1012 unit had?

No that actuator now has 3 wires, but one is just for the indicator light.
