Description

High Capacity Thermostatic Radiator Valves provide precise and automatic control of room temperature in two-pipe systems by modulating the flow of hot water or steam through free-standing radiators, convectors and other heating units with high capacity requirements.
  • Continually monitors and adjusts room temperature for consistent comfort and relief from under-heating and overheating.
  • Designed with the higher capacity normally required by U.S.A. heating systems.
  • Valve seat disc, which is made of resilient material (EPDM), ensures tight shutoff on steam or hot water systems.
  • Nickel-plated bronze casted body with working parts in cartridge insert for ease of service.
  • Controls include sensor, setpoint dial and valve actuator; components may be integral or connected by capillary tubes.
  • Require no electrical connections.
  • All working parts are replaceable using service tool (MT100C1011) while valve remains in service, in-line, under pressure.
  • Valves normally open without control mounted.
  • Valves may also be used with MV110 Electric Zone Valve Actuator.
  • Meet ASHRAE Standard 102-1989.

I would buy its replacement

The Honeywell V110 series valves have only 3 threads to hold the valve body to its radiator bushing. It needs 5 threads avoid side pressure on the supply pipe and to seal the water pressure to avoid leaks, especially if the system uses low-pressure steam. Honeywell has a newer thermostat valve and actuator that is less expensive and has 5 threads. Checkout the V2040ASL20 valve and the T2001 actuator, also sold by SupplyHouse. The valve body appears to be a zinc casting. The bushing is brass. The radiator is cast iron. Ergo, it needs an insulating fitting to avoid galvanic corrosion. Teflon plumbing tape may work to avoid this problem and help seal the threaded connections. Please be very cautious. It is easy to cross-thread and ruin the valve body with soft metal and only 3 threads. Also secure the supply pipe when you take the old valve off to make sure the pipe does not unscrew on the wrong end. I hate to see grown people cry.

I am buying this product again

This item functions as advertised !! But, I do have a negative comments... 1.This valve installation could have been and should have been very easy to be installed. The terminal threading and end dimensions both match existing conditions. HAD the internal seal of the new union matched the internal seal of the existing union, the installer would have the option to use the existing union outlet nipple or use the new union outlet nipple..(Radiator inlet connection) The existing nipple can at times be very difficult to remove from the radiator, but still be in good condition and could be reused. However, the new union internal seal does not match, thus not permitting a tight seal if using the existing union outlet nipple.

Solid Equipment

I have a 100 year old townhouse with original radiators (radiators probably not as old as the house). I removed the old natural circulation piping and manual thermostats to save energy costs. These radiator valves allow you to set a different termperature in every room without zoning the entire system. Showed up new, solid casting and robust. The valve actuator had a nice rubber cover to protect it during installation. No problems so far.
